Gave up the smoking habit in 2001. But when I was in the army my trusty zippo never let me down in the 16 years I served. Passed it on to a friend of mine about 10 years ago and it's still going strong. Wish all of today's gadgets were as reliable as the zippo.

You can't rely on the ping to know if it's real or fake. Zippos make different pings based on finishes or emblems they may have.

The 3rd one doesn't have any markings on it so it's just a lighter =)

You're comparing series 7 to 13, changes have been made between them. I have a series XI and it wouldn't pass your real/fake test as it says Made in Zippo... but all the stamping is sideways, too. Both of those are real, only the one without the Zippo markings is not a Zippo. As for the sound: the lighter in the middle has been stamped, which will change the sound. The "fake" has a higher pitch because it's thinner metal.

The 2nd Zippo is real. "Made in ZIPPO USA" was on the older Zippo inserts before 2010.

Fake or authentic its still has cool ping sound makes you badass lighting ur cigarette and when closing the cap is the cherry on top

The sound of the Zippo 200 (the chrome brushed one, on the left) is just extremely satisfying, I wish all Zippos sound like that.

The one you labeled as fake in the middle is actually real, they used to say Made In Zippo USA on the insert, I have 2 direct from the zippo factory with that stamp on them. The other dead giveaway is the hinge style, fakes have usually a worse hinge.

Mine has a long patent number on the bottom, is that sometimes added on? Or is that a sign mine is a fake? Another subtle variation, my insert has a different "wide point" near it's middle. That wedge part that helps it to stay in place. The one here looks very prominent, but on mine it's very subtle. It still stays in place, but it looks different.

I have an original Zippo that has "Made in Zippo USA", also have two other originals that have "Zippo, made in USA", the fake one in this seems to have much deeper etching of the wording on the insert so that's one way of spotting it, real Zippos have thin but clean etching.

Zippo two is original. It is so because it is more old model 1970-1995 about. Zippo 1 is original. differences with the second because it is newest model. Only the zippo third is fake.

Video not entirely correct The second Zippo is also original, the writing Made in Zippo USA and not Zippo Made in USA, can be found in many Zippo before 2010, the only real elements to identify if a Zippo is original or not are 6: 1) written on case back corresponding to the codes available on the Zippo website, 2) crisp and smudged lettering on the inside of the Zippo and with the numbers and letters present and present on the case as well as on the general quality of the materials 3) 16 holes not 4 ) Screw that holds felt and wadding, perfectly seated and perfectly inserted 5) Classic noise or better sound of opening and closing 6) Weight of 60 gr for the normal 40 for the slim.

I own six or seven Zippos and a zippo style lighter that I bought in Ukraine with an image of their liberator Boghdan Khmelnitskiy and Cyrillic engraving. Actually very interesting and uses the same Zippo fuel and flints. There are plenty of Zippo lookalikes; their real problem is that unlike Zippos they will not last forever. I own a Zippo style lighter branded Zenith from the sixties, with the Portuguese National Airline TAP old logo engraved. Instead of holes in the chimney it has slots. A charming lighter, but you need a screwdriver to fill it or replace the flint, and its gasket must be in perfect condition or the lighter will leak; and sooner or later the screws or the gasket will be lost. therefore, it is no match for a Zippo.

The second is a fake, but not for the "Made in Zippo USA", if not for other factors. I've two original Zippos made in 1991 (D VII) and 1998 (I XIV) and both have that sentence. Zippos made after 2000's (with numbers not roman numbers) have the inscription "ZIPPO Made in USA" Remember Zippo is a company, so make sense "Made in Zippo USA". It's not a mistake!

you can't claim that the last one is a fake zippo lighter. it never claimed to be a zippo. zippo doesn't have a patten on their design.

Question. If a "Zippo" has a flint that is attached to the spring, is it fake? Everything on this one I have is correct except that. I didn't notice until the flint needed changing and it's attached to the spring.

The middle is not fake. The reason it is written "made in zippo usa" inside, is because that particular piece is built in 2007. The first one is made in 2013.

I know mine is real it says "I'm a real fucking authentic Zippo you fucknut" so I know it's real.

Thanks for putting this video out because someone tried to tell me my zippo was a fucking fake, but we watched this video and squashed ALL the misconceptions. My zippo is identical to the original you showed, except it has a "C 15" imprint instead. I'm guessing that just means it's from a different plant in the US. Reminds me of US Paper money printed at different Federal Reserves.

In my opinion, I think the fake one would be a decent choice for low budget user P/s: I don’t say you should use fake because original is so expensive. I would recommend using a real one for best life time
