Hi Rach, thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to show this step by step. I have just got my kit, and do not have a particularly clear diary over the next few days, so having the benefit of seeing your first 3 days has really crystallised my thinking of which day to pick to actually start the test. The study is quite pricey, so I was feeling the pressure of the unknown, and wanted to ensure I got it right. It was great to be 'led by the hand' so to speak to see you go through it all. I am really pleased from your part 4 video that the results you had hoped for, in having more energy have come through for you, and hope that this has continued well for you since then. I really enjoy your personality and communication skills, so thank you for putting yourself out there, and making the videos. Well done.

So glad to hear you are feeling better. Fresh food is a cure for MCAS so it makes sense. You were glowing with health at the start of the video so I wasn't surprised to hear that you were feeling better. I don't think my scores will be as good as yours but I am going to find out soon. Its great that despite having good scores the diet nonetheless helped you!

Glad you are having success with Zoe. Having upped my exercise ( I’m now 62) over the last year (see my videos) I have just done the Zoe tests and they have given me a good start on how to eat a better diet for me. Hope to make some videos of my Zoe journey shortly too. Keep telling us how you are doing Rachel.

Hi Rachael, thanks for sharing your experience of eating the Zoe way. Since ordering my Zoe kit, I have watched your videos which have been really clear and encouraging. I am so pleased you feel better having undertaken the plan. As I type, I have my as yet unopened kit sat waiting to be unboxed as it arrived after much anticipation yesterday. Well, I wanted to know the programme for the first 2 weeks, before, not after, setting a date. My work is varied and no 2 days the same and I socialise way too much (no idea why, I try to be grumpy, but people thinks it's funny). Anyway, the pancakes have spurred me on, so when I am back from a short break, I will start it. Let's see... @@EverydayAthleteRach

Hi Rach - thanks for sharing your experiences of this. Zoe has been on my radar for a few years now (I've been watching emerging evidence & experiences with great interest!) and still feeling undecided - it's a lot of money, and hard to know if it will tell me anything groundbreakingly new. So it's grand to see your experiences of the test process.

Astrid, I am not particularly jazzed by the whole ZOE experience, mostly just made me crazy trying to figure out how to deal with the app. HOWEVER, I was very happy with the results. My body clears food in six hrs. That was quite the surprise! Not sure how to use that info, but it must mean something! I knew I had issues with my blood sugar control going into this program but I was very happy to see that my fasting blood sugar being slightly over 100 every day was just a cortisol blip and not diabetes (I HATE doctors and will not go). I was stunned to find that I do not clear fats out of my blood very well and will have to mind my fat intake even better than I have been. The scoring system for my food choices that is based on both of my issues is quite handy. Anyway, I am pleased that I forked over the money for ZOE even if the shortest term I could buy did amount to 1 month income for me. I came into ZOE very well educated on nutrition, so maybe I did not learn so much, but was reassured that I am on the right track. If the latest science on nutrition has not been part of your education, then it may well be worth your money, especially if you are having health issues.

Hello Rachel! Returned to see if you had shared any more videos and LO! You have. I just got my Zoe results (as you said so much faster than I had expected). And it is fascinating. My scores NOT as good as yours. LOL. I have one in every category - Bad, Poor, Good, Excellent. But. It's my gut microbiome that scored 'Excellent' which I am glad about. Thank you again again for sharing your Zoe journey. You make it feel less daunting and more fun. Please do share your further discoveries. I am so delighted to hear that the changes the Zoe app is guiding you to make has dispelled your long covid symptoms. So inspiring and motivating.

Thank you so much from South Africa. Unfortunately, I cannot participate in the Zoe study. I live in South Africa. I have however been listening to, and watching every podcast. It was also out of desperation because of long covid. I am 69 years old but was previously very fit and healthy. This has confirmed my experience of processed foods. Since cutting out anything from a packet and eating only fresh food and bread that will go mouldy, I have started to feel happy and enthusiastic again.

Had my results for 3 weeks now and absolutely loving eating and tracking in app. . I am loosing weight slowly but surely, and noticed I have broken the habit of drinking wine every night- with out trying. Also seem to be recognising when I feel full- always used to eat too much! Very excited about the updates we can expect with 50 good and 50 bad bacteria and retests. Pleas5 make new video!

So glad you are feeling a little better Rachel and I do hope your back is similarly improving very soon. Looking forward to some more swimmy videos and on the days when you are feeling less like diving in maybe you could try little interviews? I love hearing about why people start, where their favourite places are and so on. I listen to the Zoe podcast all the time, can’t quite stretch to the analysis myself but the general message of eat more fresh fruit and veg and less UPFs is pretty universal and something we can all learn from.

Hi Jenny, I do love a breakfast picnic, it just feels like a bit of an adventure. Much more exciting than cooking it at home with no balancing jeopardy. Having to grab adventure in any form at the mo with the back injury. Haha! It is defo worth following Zoe on instagram and listening to their weekly podcasts to get insights and improve your diet. There are plenty of episodes in their back catalogue to get on with. It was a bit of an investment, but I'd tried all sorts to kick long covid and had no luck at all, so it worked out as a sound investment. @@EverydayAthleteRach Rachel, it’s funny timing that you should ask about fruit. Just yesterday we had to pick all our crabapples and apples because we have a bear 🐻 who is raiding our apple trees for a picnic everyday. In doing so he is breaking the branches and wrecking our trees which are quite close to the house. We use our steamer-juicer to steam the apples and then we put-up quart jars of apple juice for the winter. I always think my kitchen window is the perfect bear-viewing spot, but now that the apples are gone I hope he moves onto another fruit buffet some time soon. He already ate all our gooseberries before moving onto the apples. It’s a waste of time trying to grow any fruit here on our property because we just end up feeding the bears. If it weren’t for the 🐻 🐻 we would grow strawberries and raspberries because berries are one of my favourite foods. There is a fruit truck that comes up from the south (orchard and vineyard heaven) and we are able to buy fresh fruit and veg grown in my province from the fruit truck in town once a week. (It’s a good system and they have lots of customers in the north.) Our garden and greenhouse are really coming on strong right now so we don’t need to purchase any veggies which is really helpful for the wallet. Food prices in 🇨🇦 are INSANE!! They have tripped in the last two years. Thanks for asking. Ⓜary🍎🫐🍓

Caroline, I was dizzy and shaking after that purple cookie. The amount of sugar in that bad boy must be quite high. I did not like the fattiness of the white cookie but got it down ok with the help of a glass of water. No obvious effects from the white cookie, however it did tell ZOE that I do not manage fats well.

Keep on logging, it really pays off afterwards when the results are in by giving you a back catalogue of what to continue with and what to swap, rather than having to imagine from scratch which can seem pretty daunting. Enjoy the process, I have been a new convert to canned beans and legumes in water which I would have previously barely give the time of day, save for cooking a chilli once in a while! The recipes which show up in the app after the results are cracking, as are the ones on the Zoe instagram page.

@@JackieHamilton51 I find that writing down the ingredients and then logging them all in one go works better than doing it as I’m cooking. Bit of a faff but less annoying. Did you realise that if you like something you’ve logged you can click the heart and it saves it in ‘my recipes’ under the food tab. You can then go in and edit it and give it a name and add a photo otherwise it is the name of all the ingredients so is hard to find again.

Thank you for the reply. I've signed up for 12 months too. As I like to eat seasonal/local food, I thought 12 months would help me to understand a wider range of food choices and would help to instil the change in habits. It's great to know your thoughts and I'm sure they will help me, especially if I lose a little focus along the way. 12 months is quite a commitment. I saw in a video that even Tim Spector sometimes falls off the wagon with food choices! The true value of Zoe is the increased knowledge of how our bodies respond to food and it allows us to make choices. You'll already know how to get back on board and that's golden! 😊

My question is, I have been following the general diet advice from ZOE for a couple of weeks. Eat wholefood, fruit and veg, nuts and seeds for fiber etc. Avoided ultra processed food. Eat the rainbow, eat some fermented foods a little and often etc. I am undeniably feeling better as a result. More alert, I sleep better, better mood. better poo and generally feel more well, I've even lost a couple of lbs. of body fat. Do you think the premium service with all its tests will make me feel any better thann this? What are the extra benefits in your opinion?

There are a number of eye conditions including cataract and pterygium where polarised sunglasses are recommended outdoors all year round, and I am am sure many people would want to consider tinted or polarised glasses on sunny days…. But what to choose? What is comfortable, and what offers good UVA and UVB protection, and are prescription goggles worth considering?? hi Linsey. Not Rachael, but wanted to tell you that I did track my food for 2 weeks because I could see immediate results on the CGM. The second it died, I quit tracking because doing so was so tedious. Am starting to track it again now that my results have come in so I can use their scoring system to figure out what types of foods just have to be taken out of my overall diet. Surprised that I have to ditch all starch-carbs except beans (which I am not so fond of) and no-way can I go on a keto diet since I do not clear fat from my blood very well. Will not be tracking religiously now...

Hi, I've been following you and Zoe for sometime now, so watching your 4 part vids on your Zoe experience is really helpful, as I'm on the verge of joining up! A couple of questions for you, if you can comment.. would you recommend a four month membership or the year long one? I can tell you have been benefiting from the app for scoring etc.. have you gained from accessing the coaches as well? I wonder whether spreading membership over 4 months would feel long enough to have 'downloaded' the information enough to not feel you need it for longer?? Secondly, would you recommend do the testing before or after Christmas!!? Also, were you able to swim whilst wearing the arm sensor? Thanks in advance! :)

Hi, not Rachael, but just got my ZOE results. I took baths wearing the CGM with the cover patch and had no issues. AS to before or after Christmas, I think the food tracking app is so difficult that you will want to wait until you are back to a more controlled routine than the Holidays. I have a four month membership and am happy that I did not get a longer one. What it has to teach me has been taught adequately by the end of 3 weeks. I too like the food scoring system, especially since I have both poor blood sugar control AND BAD blood fat clearing issues. Still, after looking at a lot of their meal examples, I understand what I need to know and will not be consulting the app much anymore. I have had no need to consult their advisors other than trying to clear up confusion with the food tracking app and there was no way to contact them in a timely manner for that. hope this helps.
