ZR2 33 inch tires without trimming?

Can you do 33 inch tires on the ZR2 Colorado without trimming. This has been a challenge that I wanted to take on. I have seen several videos but most all seem to have rubbing issues. I have a Dmax, so what did I do different? Creativity and planning can pay off if you do it right, but the outcome could be damaging and costly too.

I put new coil springs over the shocks. It was dangerous with the spring compressors.

Coil springs or full coil over kit. We’re talking a big price difference here

I did 1.25 body lift with 32.3 tires and I still needed to trim but I really push my 2020 zr2; I forgot to mention, no front sway bar.

I have Eibach 1.25" leveling springs and Alpha Equipt Command wheels with a +20 offset. I went with Firestone Destination MT2's in a 285/70-r17 and I absolutely had to trim. I wheel my truck hard and it gets flexed out a lot. I was rubbing just turning into a steep driveway. No big deal though, I'll hack out more when I go to 35's and 4.56 gears eventually.

I’ve got a similar set up with a diesel zr2 with warn winch and overland hidden mount. I put in the peak suspension diesel coil over spring package and it basically got me back up to stock height with the added weight of the winch added mount. My question is why did you drop your diff? Should I do the same if I’m at now stock height or am I ok? Thanks.

If you raised the angle of the diff w the lift then I would drop it. If you didn't then no need in my opinion. My angle was raised

Good info thanks for sharing. I’m assuming 285/70/17? Grabber X3? How’s the weight of that tire feel? Stock is around 43 lbs, X3 around 66lbs, I believe. Big jump.

Thanks! Yeah 285/70r17. They are a bit heavier, but with the diesel I don't even notice any difference.

That's a 240lb Rotational weight difference which would be considerable for my Gas 20 Bison ZR2 in the mountains of Colorado. . . When I go to 33's I think I am going to stay with the Dura Tracs at a 120 lb Rotaional Weight difference. I could shed that much, or near that much weight in unnecessary gear much easier.

So you purchased the peak recommended 650lb springs? And you wouldn’t get these again? From Peak-“OE ZR2 Rate is 695 lbs/in for Diesel Motor(Stock weight recommended rate 650 lbs/in)

I looked at those tires, but the weight of the tire was more than i wanted to add so I went with the duratrac 33s. I went with a 2inch level kit from truxxx it came with a front 2 inch and a back 1 inch I put the front on and the truck was level with in 1/16 so I didn't put the 1 inch on the back. most people do not look at the tire weight but i just a few lbs makes a big difference on your fuel milage and power

Did you have to trim anything in your truck?
@jeffreyjohnston6843
@jeffreyjohnston6843 Жыл бұрын
@@Punisher-1 I did not trim. what I did was pull back the liner because it will melt then i took a heat gun and heated the plastic pieces and bent them back. There was one piece of metal I bent back. at the bottom of the plastic trim, I made a v cut then took a sodering iron and heated up the v cut peace and melted it together. The v cut is kind of under the bottom, so you don't see it. if you look at my truck it looks factory but i gave it about 1 inch more clearance. where that metal peace sticks out, I cut the metal at a angle then primed and painted the cut edge. then melted the plastic back so it doesn't look hacked up. If I knew how to do vids, I would show it. I don't want my truck looking hacked up like most fender trimming does, and I don't like that kit you can get with the metal pieces because that still makes it look like it was changed. if you use a heat gun, make sure you have a way to form the plastic you can't use your hands because you can get burned. I made some metal piece to form it ahead of time.

So if you added the peak adjustable springs and a spacer lift does that mean your front end was lifted over 3inches? If not what was the purpose of the spacer lift in addition to the adjustable perch springs? Also do you notice any difference in ride firmness with the diesel springs? You went with the 650lb ones right? I’m about to go the same route as you so i appreciate the video thx!

Thanks for the question. No not 3 inches. I got a total of 1.5 inch lift. The spacer and the diesel spring gave me a total of 1.5.

@@TravisN The kit is out of stock I think. I ordered the first day released, it is close out panels to cover were you trim. You have to down load the instructions and templates, there are a few errors but there are YT vids covering this. www.aev-conversions.com/product/colorado-33-tire-clearance-kit/
