Moab, Utah beckons thrill-seekers to experience the ultimate outdoor escapades, and at the heart of this adventure playground lies the iconic Hell's Revenge trail. Hell's Revenge boasts all the thrills and spills you'd expect from a 4x4 trail. It's a treacherous ride, a daredevil's dream, best suited for seasoned drivers, and not for the faint of heart.
The majority of people should have a 4×4 vehicle with lockers and 35-inch tires, but that is not absolutely necessary. Some could do Hells Revenge with a 4×4 vehicle and tires around 33 inches and no lockers. But what about our trusty Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, bone stock and not boasting 33" tires? Could it conquer this formidable trail unscathed, or were we merely daydreaming?
Well, we didn't know it at the time, but the main trail wasn't going to be a problem...but the real exit that no one normally takes would test our off roading skills and the ZR2s capabilities.

@@legendarytrails and few of those steps were on flat ground. All the work spotters do on trails like Hells Revenge should qualify them for compensation. A free massage, a pair of good shoes, no housekeeping duties for a week. Something the driver gives to the spotter in recognition for the part they played in a successful passage on a challenging trail. Hells Kitchen is a whole lot of steep ascents and descents. Playing cinematographer just adds to the challenge. Do yourselves a favor, try the trail off Mineral Point known as Hellroaring Rim. It’s about halfway along the easy Mineral Point trail. A few slick flat rocks, some moderately steep short hills, and lots of smooth sand. No real high rims to worry about. Usually not crowded. Then you can catch Gemini Bridges trail on the other side of 313. Thre is a rough bouncy stretch just east of the bridges but it soon improves. Please be careful if you want to visit the Gemini bridges, as you will take a short walk Dow and end up at a skiff edge with no warning. Not much spotting needed, either,

We had it down to 22psi. We could have went a little more, but didn't want to give up any more ground clearance.

which do you guys like better...your taco or the chevy and why?

After driving them on road and off road, we prefer the Chevy. It is quieter on the road, has better seating, and comes with heated seats for less money than the tacoma package would have been. It's also better off road. The DSSV shocks have an amazing ride, the stock tires are great and don't pop on a gravel road, and the flex is awesome. Overall, it's a really nice truck and has a lot of advantages over the tacoma.

So what was the tire pressure at? Did ya stay full for clearance or air down?

We went down to 22psi. We didn't go any lower since we wanted to have better ground clearance.

@@mtower235 yeah, without bead locks we only go lower to about 15ish in the sand. 20-22 is were we prefer to run when we air down.

I do 12 on stock wheels and 255/80r17 at3w falkens. I’ve actually done 10psi with the swampers also on stock wheels.

Is your new Tacoma better off road than that Chevy ZR2? I have a Tacoma 2023 TRD off road lunar rock. That ZR2 looks bigger than the Tacoma.

I love our Tacoma, but the Chevy ZR2 is way better off road. Honestly, we would have turned the Tacoma around and went back to the parking lot exit and would not have attempted the real exit in our Tacoma. The extra ground clearance and the lockers make this trail look easy in a lot of sections.
