Damn, the scene where Robin was confirmed as a girl kinda hurt. Imagine being this close to lifting your deepest secret, one that you were forced to keep against your will (plus an uncomfortable-looking brace) off your chest, and maybe _finally_ have the chance to live as what you were always meant to be... and everyone else says you couldn't possibly be that. And then, once she's finally established as a girl... that moment is turned into her being suspected of a murder she never committed, by having the traumatic force her parents exerted over her turned into a point of blame. I thought Robin being a girl was a great twist, but... The one thing I never expected was her actual personality. The music "Lively People" said it all.

There is a lack of people having an open mind here in these comments. It's not common, but parents have been known to force things on their kids and you hear about some even going so far as forcing gender roles on kids. Not saying that Dual Destinies is leading us to believe that Robin is a hermaphrodite (could just be that her parents really wanted a boy and were in denial), but it is more common than you think for hermaphrodites to be raised as one gender and then come to terms with being the opposite gender as they grow up.

As a trans woman and an Ace Attorney fan, I actually love this scene, problematic elements be damned. Although Robin is a cis woman rather than a trans woman, she still had a sort of "closeted" experience due to her extremely awful parents. This is actually one of the better portrayals I know of the extreme frustration that comes with forcing yourself to live as the gender you're not.

Replaying this case in 2022 is extra funny.
