For me, Noskowski is a pleasant surprise. A música full of beauty and charm, formally sophisticated and melodically captivating.

Second movement quite beautiful with a sort of 'unending melody' that never goes where you expect it to. Another happy discovery, and thanks to KuhlauDilfeng2 for all these obscure, yet wonderful, composers. [As if 'obscure' had anything to do with beauty.]

These are some of the more 'sensitive' sounds I've heard in the greater Romantic style. Not along the lines of out-sized heroics, but instead feelings of actual 'conversations' instead of grand proclamations - very positive, uplifting, the perfect prescription for a healthy outlook!

I think that Noskowski composed some of the most beautiful late romantic symphonic music.

Finally, the bright music is back. It has taken some time since Sibelius said "It's curious, the more I watch life and the more I feel convinced that classicism is the way of the future"....... ;-)

Una sinfonia di una bellezza affascinante. Abbraccia lo stile Straussiano e Mahleriano.Programmatica,ma nella classica forma sonata. Uno dei più validi compositori polacchi post-romantici. Ottima la performance dell'orchestra. Un grazie a Kuhlau per l'upload.

Could someone please explain to me why more of these unknown and neglected composers are being played on commercial and national public radio stations? this music is beautiful and definitely deserves wide exposure.

I agree. That is a true shame. This music should be heard. Hey! All you commercial and public radio stations out there all across america; there is other classical music out there besides the usual to be discovered. Many are unknown, ignored or forgotten. They deserve to be heard. Give them a chance.

HENRY J. FINN, JR. Excellent question, addressed very well by +Classic Fan. Q2 by WXQR does very well with contemporary (living) composers, but this still leaves a huge gap. For now it seems we must rely on the generous work of folks like KuhlauDilfeng2 and Spotify.

HENRY J. FINN, JR. I'm always distressed about Gliere and his 2nd Symphony to which Rachmaninoff and others owed so much. You'll hear his 'Sailor's Dance' often enough; it's faint praise, though

Alas, public radio is no longer "public". So called public radio stations provide only ten minute sections of music and can no longer afford to play longer symphonies. They certainly refuse to play a lengthy piece such as a Mahler symphony or a Wagner opera because they must have these "mini pledge drives" every 10-15 minutes because of the high cost (presumably) of broadcasting. And no matter how much the employees at these public radio/television stations may protest (and it can get ugly at times), they are commercially sponsored. Just look at PBS around 55 minutes past any given hour on television and the sad truth of the matter regarding corporate sponsorship will become painfully clear. So now, classic and so called public radio stations play a narrow selection of Baroque music or, at best, portions of movements from symphonies. Public Radio stations were much different in the 1970s. They would play full symphonies that ran as long as 90 minutes without interruptions as well as full operas (and not just the Saturday broadcasts from the MET).

Szymon Kawalla is one of the Polish best maestros, And the Orchestra from Katowice (where Grzegorz Fitelberg worked), definitely too. Fiotelberg, HIMSELF BEING A PUPIL OF NOSKOWSKI, was a supervisor of this Orchestra when staying in Katowice, and Kawalla, a pupil of Wisłocki... so... no wonder
