You haven't heard the best of ZZ TOP until you've done "Waiting For the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago" (Studio version). From their early days & still one of their most beloved songs (actually 2 songs but one flows into the other without stopping, meant to be played together as one). Hope you add it to your list.💙

Great concert, Rockpalast, Germany 1979. Touring for IMHO, the last great ZZ Top record, Deguello. Lots of great Dusty Hill highlights, both singing and playing dirty bass lines.

Their smoothness comes from all original band members being together for 51 YEARS!! Now with our dear Dusty having passed on, we don't know what's gonna happen with the lil' ol' band from Tejas. MORE ZZ PLEASE!!! Waiting for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago or Blue Jeans Blues :D

I used to dismiss ZZ Top. But they were actually quite a good blues band. Took me years to see them for what they really were. Blinded by the glare of their MTV music videos of the 80's

If you ask any Texan who their top band is, we will shout from the rooftop ZZ TOP, and rightly so! Only people who appreciate TOP notch music gets it! Glad that you appreciate their greatness Chod! Please react to them doing "Blue Jean Blues " "Fool For Your Stockings and "My Head's in Mississippi ". You will not believe what you are hearing. Those are very bluesy and classic ZZ Top. It's what brought them to the party. I don't recommend listening to those songs Live, unless you listen to the studio version first.🥳🤠👌💯💣💥

I just discovered your channel & subscribed . What I love about your platform is that you don't stop & start the videos & you give your commentary at the end of the song ! When America had variety shows black people were exposed to the best of the best ,different genres ! When these shows disappeared it left a void. in entertainment ! 😓 Now here's a song I know you're gonna love by the late Dr. John (The Night Tripper)that I remember from the white kids in the experimental Quaker college I attended . The whole album was exotic but the best song was "Mama Roux" ! Eventually, he became a crossover artist with "Right Place Wrong Time" but there was no song like "Mama Roux" ! Also Hall & Oates had a song from their lp Marigold Sky. The best songs are " Promise Ain't Enough " & "Throw The Roses Away" !

zz top is a really cool band. They were the headliner at the Missouri State Fair. The got bored in their hotel room and went to Walmart just to hang out and signed autographs and talked to their fans.

You've got to check out "Joe Blues". It's Billy with the Moving Sidewalks, his band just previous to ZZ Top. He was 19 playing this song. It was NOT all ZZ Top members, just Billy and it's face melting blues.

The 2 most raw rock funk blues albums they made are the 1st and 2nd called RIO GRANDE MUD ..When you listen those , you will be broken in very well after that to their true original style ..Tres Hombres gets far more hype but 1 and 2 are the real gems hidden in plain sight ..

Great video. 70's era ZZ Top was phenomenal, and they were huge - playing huge arenas and stadiums. They re-tooled their sound for the 80's, and got even more popular, but lost some of the grit and groove of their 70's work (in my opinion).

You should listen to the studio album. It's full of great guitar tones. They're great live, but there's a lot of subtly that's fun on the studio version, and on that whole album (Deguello)

Deborah is not wrong! Great blended song from 3rd album when they were just getting big. A song I wanted to suggest is Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings from the Fandango album. I think you'll dig that -- but of course you'd dig most of the catalog 🙂

That's the last one I bought, too. Their later work has some hidden sleepers. The MTV years didn't offend me just didn't capture my interest. Rio Grande Mud might be the first album I ever bought. I went to the record store to get Tres Hombres, but they were out of copies. Blew my freakin mind!

Them adapting to the MTV years kept them from disappearing into obscurity. They had to change their sound a bit but their videos were great. That helped keep them fresh for newer, younger audiences who didn't grow up with them. It definitely paid dividends for them. They didn't have to keep touring in 2021 but they still enjoyed it. While the early edge was missing from the music it with the older hits were enough to keep the band in the public eye and but just as oldies. Not every band survived the disco years and the MTV years intact. They did.

Great reaction! I have loved their music since first seeing them before the beards and shades. I think you should react to a song by Rodney Crowell called "56 Fury". It's a great song on its own but Rodney brought fellow Texan Billy Gibbons into it and it became an epic song. I listen to it several times a day with volume on as high as it goes. Link to "56 Fury". kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idKIrKSFtqevkYk.html

Thanks for doing a live version.. The bass part on this track is out of hand. ZZ Top got too caught up making videos in the early 80's and got away from their Blues/Rock roots. More power to them though they made a ton of cash in the 80's..
