The best part is you don’t need to worry about the cost. In the US, you can get a bill for thousands of dollars even if you have insurance. Some doctors may bill you individually because they are out of network. You have no control, esp. in a hospital setting,
In summary, most health care workers are experienced, gentle and professional in Canada. The issue is the wait; some areas/cites are better or worse. There is no private hosipital in Canada, so even if you like to pay to speed up, you can't..... It is different in US, all hospitals are private, rich people get the most speedy and the best services for a big invoice.... I stil remember waiting one whole night in ER with my bleeding child.... LOL.... HK has both public and private health care, so people have more choices.

Anyone who doesn't speak English well will be in big trouble.... They take a long time to get translators and most translators are not good enough.

China hospitals are the same, you need to know which one is good for your specific illness.

You are lucky the ER was not busy. Hope you recover well. God bless.
About 25 years ago I broke my finger at school. The diagnosis was in eagle ridge hospital, but the surgery was a few days later at royal columbian. Nobody told us the surgery was at royal columbian, so on the day of the surgery, I went to eagle ridge hospital. When I went in they were shocked and told me it’s at royal Columbian. I was only 15 😂😂😂
Some interesting: point related to other comments:- Shared hospital room is basic, single room are used for those with severe/specific situation. Examples are dying patients, and infectious patients. Magnet hospitals are heavily funded mainly due to the demographics of the region. Major regional hospitals’ focuses are high acuity clients. Please consider 2-tiers health care system, where the affordable clients may opt for fast and efficient service at an additional cost. Universal health care is on the verge of extinction .

Sophia’s is blessed. Overall, this clavicle fracture fixation surgery is called “ pin and plate “. Surgical operation time should be less than 30 minutes. The rest is pre and post operation care time. Treatment is prioritized based on acuity. If it occurred during sking season , Sophia will not be so lucky. Phone calls are rarely attended , else it will be ringing off the hook non stop. Usually staff will respond to messages left. Considering the health care budget amounts to 40-50 percent of Canadian provincial fiscal expenses, it is difficult to expect more. Try to lessen your risk of getting sick and/or injury is the key.
