Just started my Lolita journey, got recommended this video and found it really helpful. Are there fabrics I should avoid using while making Lolita fashion? Or fabrics that work better than others?
@fairyannechannel
@fairyannechannel 23 сағат бұрын
I’m so glad this video was helpful! You can make lolita clothes out of most any fabric you want! I personally recommend starting with cotton fabrics as that is a very beginner friendly material. Cute prints, especially border prints will work great for lolita style! You can also add things like lace, pockets, aprons, waist ties, embroidery, etc. to make it extra cute and extra you 😊

As far as specific fabrics to avoid, I would stay away from using anything that has stretch to it. You want a fabric that can hold the shape/silhouette of lolita.

Flowerknows is C-Beauty (chi na brand) You can buy that pink cabinet retail through Tao ba o, just need to find an ag en t to ship it, you can also buy it directly on Aliexpress but I guess it will be much more expensive than Ta oba o or Xi any u. They cost around 100~150$ depending on the reseller. You can also find old or domestic collections of Flower Know in the same way.

Thank you for the correction and the tip! I assumed it was a Japanese brand bc I initially discovered them through Japanese sources. A good lesson to always double check the facts before I make any claims in videos! And that’s exciting to know the makeup box is sold separately on TaoBao 😍

I really enjoyed this video and felt it helped me understand some of the reasons i'm drawn to this style! Do you have any recommendations on where to buy Lolita clothes, specifically the blouses?
@fairyannechannel
@fairyannechannel 9 күн бұрын
I’m so glad you enjoyed this video! ❤️. Some of my favorite places to get blouses are from Lace Market and Wunderwelt (if you don’t mind second hand). Chinese EGL Updates on Facebook is a great shopping service for new TaoBao releases, as well as 42 Lolita!

Hi lovely video, thanks for the tutorial, I have a skirt with an elastic wastband that goes all round the skirt and i am trying to expand the elastic waistband, how do i use the technique with this type of skirt?
@fairyannechannel
@fairyannechannel 23 сағат бұрын
You can use the same technique when expanding a full elastic waist. I recommend that when you sew the elastic down on either side of where you wish to expand it, do it in the front or two smaller sections on the sides. The amount you are expanding will impact the distribution of the skirt, so sometimes doing a little on each side is best so the skirt volume is more even. Hope this helps!

well, i have had a skirt from 42 lolita were the fabric felt like a shower curtain... xD to be fair, it was to be expected, considering the price of the skirt (i was trying to get a simple skirt to use as underskirt but it certainly was not this one ^^) but i agree with quality and customer service :3 I like them ( ´ ꒳ ` )
@nephee7359
@nephee7359 7 ай бұрын
maybe a little harsh to call the fabric "shower curtain" but it looks much better on picture 😅 maybe it's more about the colour i've got (apricot yellow)🤔 the skirt is: Little Dipper~DIY Match Elegant Lolita Skirt because there are button rows on each layer, the skirt gets quite heavy too😅
@fairyannechannel
@fairyannechannel 7 ай бұрын
@nephee7359 I think I have the same skirt in pastel green! It’s the one with detachable ruffle layers with button snaps right? I agree the fabric is pretty heavy 😖. But I thought the texture was fine for me. Sometimes when things come in different colors the fabric is a little different too?

This was such a great tutorial, you are a great teacher! This is my first project ever with my sewing machine. the fact I actually got a skirt at the end is incredible, considering today was the first time I’ve ever sewing a garment in my life. I most certainly have you and this video to thank for that! I have been watching tutorial after tutorial for weeks now, just to get a gist of which one I actually wanted to try out. Most other super beginner friendly tutorial videos out there are for things that don’t really suit my style (Frankly, plain old circle skirts and camisole tops bore me to death!). This was a lifesaver! I’m super excited to make more of these with different trims, colors, etc…

Aw I love this! I didn't watch the video when it came out because it was during my move and everything was so chaotic, and then I just forgot about it. Now it just randomly popped up in my KZfaq recommendations😊 I really relate to your boyfriends (now Husband!!😍) response to the soul animal question😁 When I asked my bf he said that I remind him of a seal😂 Because I have a large and silky head (like a seal) and usually bobble around, but also can be elegant if I want, like a seal underwater😂 Otters are really cute, I think it fits perfectly! I personally thought that you remind me of a deer, because of your big brown eyes and tender figure🥰
