That was by far, the biggest waste of my time watching Doctor Who. The phony German accent was atrocious, introducing woke agenda into the story was particularly insulting. The crowning turd in the water pipe is the "bigeneration"....... simply awful

The part where the Doctor says "It's been in the machine ever since I counstructed it" is ambiguous due to using 'it' to refer to the piece of technology he was referring to at the time. While it could be interpreted as "this device has been in the machine since I built the entire vessel", it is also possible it could mean "This addon has been installed in the time machine since I finished building the addon."

Fascinating to see this. I once owned an Arriflex 16BL camera, and an Arriflex 16ST camera. The BL was blimped so it made hardly any noise.

I think this is 3rd time I'm watching this, so I've had the opportunity to concentrate on the little things, which raises a few questions: We all know it, but how CHEAP. They could have gotten 100x the money needed just by asking the parent of some wealthy kid to donate to his favorite TV show. In other words, they could have BEGGED and gotten more money. It was just the culture, I guess. That was BBC money, and that's all you'll give them. Now I understand better the Monty Python "BBC going broke" episode. Where did the behind-the-scenes color photos of the sand dune scene come from? Was that period, or a recreation? ARE THERE ANY MORE? I think it's a couple color photos, and recreation video? Who did the recreation? We really need to clear up the contrary statements by the actors and producers. Maybe Maureen O'Brian went out a second day for some pick-up shots? I can't believe that kind of recollection can be misplaced.

An hour-long special project taking a "deep dive" into the subject of 'who wrote what', and it's still more interesting than watching the actual programme was! Very rewarding to see the great team at Dalek 63-88 branching out into this sort of research. They're diligent, thoughtful and they don't miss a trick. And the narration, as ever, is charmingly detached from its obsessive thesis, amiable and particular -- rather like listening to a mildly amused dose of valium.

My theory for the Dalek Sec thing is that the events of the fan animation "dalek tales" is cannon. So, during a conflict with the Cybermen, the history of the Dalek's was altered by a Cyber experiment, resurrecting Skaro and pulling Daleks from various timelines together in the same place. So following the Sewers coming alive and nearly destroying the city, Sec was driven mad by the liquid daleks (or something) and later dumped in the asylum when the Dalek Emperor we see in the official animated series reclaimed Skaro.

You have a wonderful historical effort on display here. As someone who has watched "Toymaker" (in recon form, haven't got the animation yet) I remember struggling a lot to make sense of the story's guest cast, in particular the fact that Cyril seemed to be the same person every time while the others weren't. Now, it all makes a lot more sense. Deeply fascinating to see how much of the accepted history of this story's production has turned out to be completely wrong.

I remember seeing the available episode years ago and honestly it was pretty disturbing. I'd still be curious to see the whole story although i don't think in the manner which they've animated it. I do rather like that bit about Hale basically asking his now boss, can I do this thing as a bit of a welcome gift

I'm only eight minutes into the video but I needed to comment because this is the first time I've seen anyone acknowledging just how racist Talons of Weng Chiang was. I've seen so many people refer to it as one of the best serials but I could never get over how blatantly racist is was. I know it's of its time etc, but still...

I understand it can technically fall under the banner of racism, but why is the trope particularly unsavory? An association between the Chinese and puzzles was not created by the English, nor is it particularly harmful.

Product Enterprise was actually set up to sell Gerry Anderson merchandise, the Dr Who and Daleks merchandise came later. Also you mentioned Iconic Replicas. Iconic Replicas was actually Product Enterprise after its first name change. After IR they became Sixteen/12.They actually received a lot of criticism for using fan designs for their tooling, producing inaccurate but expensive replicas and advertising items that they never had an intention of releasing. So they never went out of business just changed the company name because of dubious business practices.

What an amazing video! Absolutely brilliant stuff, many thanks. I do have a question about the use of the 'three spaces' tells in the scripts -- you say that this differentiates between the original (Brian Hayles) script and the numerous later additions but I was under the impression that the finished camera and rehearsal scripts were typed up by BBC secretaries (not sure of proper job title so I'll keep secretary) and not by the original writers. My inference from your video is that the secretary who typed up Hayles' *original* scripts had this 3-space mannerism but that the later additions were by other secretaries that did not. Is this a reasonable reading of your video?

I don't mean to be rude but the introduction of ai imagery is a bit muddling. Generally these videos appear to have used either genuinely contenporary, visually appropriate, or more visibly intentionally modified images, so it rather muddled the overall image of the, well, imagery. It also does not help that the effects applied on actual photos combined with generated images with strange artifacring someahat makes it difficult to tell what images are genuine and makes the production feel less legitimate...

Do you have any further information on the photograph of the man typing in the rain (shown at the 50 min and 12 second mark)? Is it the writer himself, or is it just a stock image? I'd love to know the story behind it.
