I'd love to see what you think of The Trouble With Goats and Sheep, by Joanna Cannon; Simple Prayers, by Michael Golding; Clockwork Angels, by Kevin J. Anderson; Beyond the Sky and the Earth, by Jamie Zeppa, The Enchantress of Florence, by Salman Rushdie; Interior Chinatown, by Charles Yu; Hazards of Time Travel, by Joyce Carol Oates; What Came Before He Shot Her, by Elizabeth George; and Of Things Gone Astray, by Janina Matthewson. Those are among my most recommended books pre-booktube. I LOVED If On a Winter's Night a Traveler, by Calvino. I enjoyed his The Baron in the Trees too. I liked Nickle Boys, so I'll have to watch for a copy of The Institutionist. That sounds fun. I also like books set in Ireland, so Milkman sounds great. I'll be hopefully starting Entangled Life this weekend during Dewey's Readathon, and if I don't get to it then it is on my TBR for next week.

Great idea for a video, I’m 100% stealing it 😁 I’ve only read one of these, Milkman, which I loved. Just thinking about it again all those names and the wonderful language came flooding back. The Colson Whitehead one and All The Wicked Girls both sound great (in fact you make them all sound great, but those two are lost in my wheelhouse)

@@leandrathetbrzero@leandrathetbrzero LOL, I was surprised by some of them on your list, especially the booker prize one. I have wanted to read Milkman for a while, as it was recommended to me a little while ago. i purchased the Chris Whitaker Collection 3 Books Set (We Begin at the End, Tall Oaks, All The Wicked Girls). I can not wait to read them :) I will most likely try and source the others when I get back from my Vacation :) I will ask my Second Hand Book Dealer if they can get the other titles :) At this rate, I am going to have to have a shelf just for Leandra Books :) I really appreciate your Non-Fiction recommendations. Something that's really helped me DNF more is allowing myself to rate books I DNF. I feel like not letting yourself rate those books is only pushing yourself to read more of what you're not liking, so that you "deserve" to rate it
@leandrathetbrzero5 күн бұрын
@@ChloeFrizzle I appreciate this recommendation. I will definitely keep it in mind, especially as I consider my rating habits/personal rules for 2025. My problem is rating a book I haven’t fully finished, especially when I might DNF a book simply because it isn’t for me. And if I am going to rate DNFs, then I rate them all and that makes things difficult in a different way. I’m going to have to mull this over more because you have brought up a great discussion point to consider! 🤗❤️

I appreciate this video! In a romance that is not labelled as dark or kink in anyway, we do not need more representation of what's not healthy. Romance writers have a responsibility to their readers to not only call out this behaviour but to model healthy, equal relationships. I'm not saying there's no place for this kind of content generally, it's got its place in dark romance where the reader is going in not being duped.

You're doing great!! I've never been someone who buys a lot of books. I'm more a library person. So far i've only bought 2 books this year. I haven't read either of them yet, but i have a buddy read planned for one of them. The other one is the second book in a dense adult high fantasy and as i've been in a fantasy slump for the past few months, i didn't feel like i could give it the brain it needed. So i hope the right headspace comes back soon
@jamiebbooks7 күн бұрын
I've had good success so far with CJ Archer too, though I'm reading their Glass Library series this month. Not 5-star amazing, but all reliably fun and easy to read even when you're on the verge of slumping. I'll have to try more of their series.

You’re doing amazing Leandra totally think you can get those read before the end of the year💜 I have a similar goal but going easier on myself and just trying to make sure I at least get all my preorders read. I’m actually adding books to my spreadsheet right now so I have it handy and I’m at 45% books I’ve read before, 40% still unread, and 15% percent read after I bought them🌻

The way I see it, you have 14 books to look forward to! 😊 I realized in my mid year freakout that I had bought 69 books in the first 6 months! And that has increased since then sssshhh... I've read 22 in total ^^ Well maybe a couple more since then. But those were an audiobook and a library loan! I mostly buy second hand though, so I think there are special rules for that! :D Anyway, I hope you enjoy them all!
