Cool video! You may have forgotten to mention that Padres/Giants game was played in Mexico City at a much higher elevation, so that’s why those bats had extra pop 😄 Mexico City elevation: 7,349 ft Coors Field: ≈5,280 ft

i have 2 fav players in baseball being Harper and Vladdy. i believe that Vladdy can easily have career numbers like ‘21 however he needs to make some changes. just getting it out now the team needs better hitters behind him so he sees better pitches. now ‘21 vs ‘23 one thing i have noticed was in ‘21 his entire body was synced and moving together whereas in ‘23 his body was broken up and not synced. he also was aggressive in the box his mvp year swinging 0-0 and 3-0. he wasn’t thinking about 20 different things and was simply mashing. this past year showed that when he is on, he can be one of the most feared hitters in baseball but when he isn’t it hurts to watch as a jays fan. ideally i would like to see him not getting underneath the ball as much. in 21 he squared up the ball and his numbers showed that. I believe he can shock everyone next year and get the triple crown due to the fact that he’s lost more weight and working with a trainer who worked with plenty of other MLB talent. he knows he is better than what this past year showed so he is putting in the work to make those changes. with accountability and determination he can get back to his 21 numbers he just has to make the necessary changes.

I'm a Jays fan, I've watched him plenty. I've been preaching that exact thing about the HRs in the sandboxes. The ballparks do make a difference for one reason tho..it's at street level and the elements are very much in play.. especially the wind off of lake Ontario blowing directly from behind the plate. MLB parks are dozens of feet below ground and none have the access to the elements like wind from behind the plate. It's essentially like hitting out of a hole.

So, you're telling us that a player constantly posting 25+HR and 800+ OPS, year after year is declining because he wasn't able to top his monster season production numbers? I think I wasted my time watching your content...
@UTNatlChamps5 ай бұрын
If you go from placing second in MVP voting to a below-average player in a two-year span, yeah, I’d say that’s a pretty steep decline.
@Barryzuckercorn695 ай бұрын
You wasted your time? You chose to watch a video called ‘the decline of Vladimir Guerrero Jr’ what did you expect?
@jackofallbaseball37355 ай бұрын
That's fine man, I can't force you to like the content, to each their own. I think you're misunderstanding why I made the video though. I'm not just crapping on the guy, I love Vladdy and I think he'll pick things back up again this year. But, his production went down each year over the last 3 years. He has gone through a decline in production.
@bluejaysbaseball5 ай бұрын
Player earns a reputation after hitting a certain way his entire minor league career. Player then replicates that in the majors in 2021. Numbers then decrease further and further year by year. That’s called a decline. And Guerrero has declined ever since 2021. It’s a great video idea.

Vlad Jr is a product of a sport desperately needing a hero, and an era where we remake an old movie, rather than write a new one. Reality, he is Prince Fielder 2.0. Really good… but never as good as the hype.

some players get paid and then fade away. players who are out for the bag and not winning a ring dont deserve playing mlb
@Il_Exile_lI5 ай бұрын
He hasn't gotten paid yet. He's still in his arbitration years. Sure, 2022 was his first arb year and the first time he made millions of dollars instead of league minimum, but generally when people talk about player getting paid and checking out they're talking about a big long term contract. Presumably Vlad would desire something along the lines of a 10 year contract worth around $300 million when he becomes a free agent, so it doesn't make sense to accuse him of losing motivation in the last two years. His disappointing production these past two seasons have probably cost him the chance to get that type of contract unless he has a huge 2024, so I don't think saying he only cares about money is a valid explanation for his struggles.

Honestly I’m a Phillies fan with the plate discipline thing. Ryan Howard had the same thing. He couldn’t hit the high fast ball after he got 2 strikes on him. Once an MLB pitcher (a good one)knows your weakness they don’t let it go. I think that’s a huge thing for young hitters to do is adjust to their weaknesses. I personally think he’ll be fine always liked watching him and his father hit.
@jackofallbaseball37355 ай бұрын
Oh for sure, you can see it in a lot of guys who come up from AAA, mash for a bit, and then cool off once the pitchers learn their weaknesses a bit better. I agree though, Vladdy is only 24, he'll figure some things out in the next few years here!
@SconnerStudios5 ай бұрын
Might be setting himself up for comeback player of the year. Bunch of these youngish guys who've had a bad or mediocre 2023. Kirk, Devers, Correa, Jon India (though nobody had a worse 2023 than Wander Franco). Only youngish guy I can think of who did great last year was Acuna. I think right around age 26-28 most great players get their MVP caliber year. Not all of them will get one, but at least one of the guys I mentioned will get an MVP caliber season in the next year or two. Maybe it'll even be a dark horse like Alek Manoah coming back.
@jackofallbaseball37355 ай бұрын
Couldn't agree more. Some of these guys came into the league at such a young age, the best is probably yet to come for most of them. Fingers crossed for Vladdy this year!

Bobby Witt and Corbin Carroll both have immense power and speed and play in ballparks that are very attractive triples candidates and they both have pretty good eyes for taking extra bases. So if I had to put money on it I’d say either one of them.

I love this video, mostly because you can categorize what a batter’s thought process was before and after the strikeout. It’s either one of the three below: 1: his **insert pitch** looked tricky out of his hand, I’ll pull the trigger as soon as I know it’s **insert pitch** because I *think* it’ll end up *here* 2: Time to pray, might as well close my eyes while I swing 3: Not sure if I wanna swing here but I’ll be aggressive and get ready for **insert pitch**
