I had to have this procedure done due to a blood issue that caused a large clot in my thigh. Wow!!!!!! surgeons are outstanding in what they do. Had to watch a video to see what they did to me.

Dr Stelzer is most wonderful. He did my aortic valve replacement with a cow valve and removed an aortic aneurysm at Mt Sinai in July of 2022. Ostensively, I was a candidate for the Ross, but when they opened me up, my pulmonary valve was leaking, so the Ross couldn’t be done. 18 months later I am healthier than I ever have been. Incredible energy and back to Cross Fit, Cardio workouts, running, and weight training. I am 68 years old. Dr Stelzer is the best, a most wonderful doctor with an incredible bedside manor.

I'm 61 even I feel young and I'm facing the surgery as well and it's still freaking me out cuz I'm vegan and I'm Health fanatic but it's just bad luck bad genetics mistakes I made in the past I'm on the fence about which valve to get I'm worried about the blood thinners and worried about the ticking of the valve and I travel a lot so my diet varies and I'm hardcore vitamin K because I'm vegan

Fyi- sadly, Michael Marranca passed away in 2021 from cancer, NOT heart failure. His obituary is on line. I found it when I was hoping to contact him and ask about my husband’s surgery. Sounds like he was a great man and that those valves helped him live his life fully to the end.

I chose onx arotic valve ten years ago. Best valve in the world. I hope to live forever. Blood thinner is not a big deal.

I’m also an ex bicuspid and now tricuspid. Operated since 25 days by the amazing and sympatic professor El Khoury in Belgium No problem since the operation, I’ m feeling better day by day… impatient to run again and train again in my fighting sport. I am in the process of making this decision myself. I am 51 years old and am very apprehensive about Coumadin. My cardiac surgeon is very adamant about me getting a mechanical valve. I am leaning towards the mechanical valve, but I have to admit that I am very stressed out about the whole process right now.

Hope she still is alive, going for ross at age of 41 in november 2023 too. Fingers-crossed it works out to be the right decision .

I’m getting this valve put in on September-19 !!! Yes I’m excited cause I have a tissue valve that was put in 4 years ago and basically never fully work , one side it’s stock and only open half way , u already know I’m dealing with extreme fatigue but thanks God problem will be addressed

I've already had a double Cabg 8 years ago, and they used a vessel from my left leg, now I need this done in both legs, and facing open heart again. I am terrified of this procedure for some reason. I've done everything I am supposed as far as diet for Diabetes and my A1C just won't come down. Dr. said it isn't my fault, I'm just one of those "lucky ones" I also have a severely calcified aortic valve, but they are concentrating on my legs first. I've had 7 caths already, and they have been difficult because I have tiny" arteries. I'm about to turn 56 in July and am so terrified I am going to lose my legs. Already have severe neuropathy as well. This was informative, thank you. Now to decide if I want to go through with it.

I had this surgery done. They first tried a stanch. My artery was totally blocked so we had to do a bypass on the veins. They said the operation was a success, and I am now presently going through the healing process..

And also Revelation 21:4 day is near and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more crying death sorrow neither shall there be any more pain for all the former things have passed away and all things are new! I'm 77 and had my aortic valve replaced with an On-X mechanical on Sept 27, 2022 by open heart surgery. I don't hear any noise. I had a 19mm valve and it should have been bigger all my life, so they fit in a 21mm. God is good.

I have the 29mm in my aorta since July 2012. The staff at San Antonio Hospital in Upland California was horrible! The hospital room was very dirty. The Surgeon that did my surgery was cocky and rude, but it seemed like at the time he did a good job with the valve. I took it upon myself to slather the red stuff all over my chest just before surgery as the nurse barely put on any, and I also swabbed that shit that goes in your nose in and around as far as I could get it in my nostrils. After surgery I nearly died 5 times in 3 hours. I have had surgeries before, been in many hospitals, health problems, broken bones, etc, etc... San Antonio Hospital in Upland California was the worst experience I have ever had in a hospital EVER! As a matter of fact almost the only bad experience I have ever had at a hospital. From dirty floors and dirty equipment to racists nurses, to no hot water in the bathroom, to incompetent nurses, and rude nurses and staff, just a total shit show. As far as the On-X valve, it seems to work fine. Yes it ticks loudly, even people across the table at dinner can hear it. I have gotten use to it. The day after surgery the surgeon stopped by to check on me and told me that once he got in there he said that he could have went with 2 different sizes but since I told him I am a very active person and I was only 47 years old he said he went with the larger one.... A year later I am reading and learning about On-X valves and everywhere it says "if you have a choice, always go with the smaller valve! Never oversize!!!" WTF Anyways, I'm alive and I hope this thing lasts and doesn't cause me issues because of the OVERSIZE

I had this surgery 2/11/21. Had a 10.2 cm aneurysm that was dissected in 2 places. Dr. Kim De La Cruz along with his surgical team at Methodist Aortic Center in San Antonio, Tx saved my life. It’s a miracle that I and all of the other survivors are alive. God is great and god is good. Those that have lived to tell their story of their heart replacements are walking miracles and a true representation of God’s mercy and love for all of us.

So what I would like to know, I chose a bovine valve. Say ten years from now, can a mechanical valve be installed threw leg, talking about aortic valve.
