Me and the fiancé just went to Wolfgangs but in Somerville NJ (were from NYC but try to hang out here as little as we can lol). I strongly recommend the Ribeye, I know you have to compare the sirloin to lugers and Benjamin, but next time do ribeye it was out of this world good, and cooked beautifully medium rare. Also, is love to hear a steal rating in the future from you guys. Love the videos 🤘🏻
@travelfuller3 күн бұрын
Our steak was absolutely incredible! Yeah, we’d typically go for ribeye (we just had ribeye five days in a row in Vegas) but ordered the sirloin for comparison purposes. Wolfgang’s is one we would definitely come back to so we’ll absolutely get the ribeye on our next visit. Thank you! And steak rating as in a ranking of all the places we’ve tried?
@ggagoots3 күн бұрын
@@travelfuller well id also love the ranking of all the places but maybe just a rating of each steak as you guys go, it could be interesting to see the scores...... Yeah we love Wolfgang's, to be honest I went in with little hope thinking it was another big name tourist trap but it was fantastic.... Ribeye 5 days in a row? You guys don't mess around lol
@travelfuller3 күн бұрын
@@ggagoots haha yeah those videos will be coming out in a few weeks! We've been trying to think of a good way to implement some sort of rating system, maybe we'll just do a score out of ten for everything we try

@@travelfuller yeah it's tough to figure out if you should rate is as a whole or just the steak and sides. Me and my fiance don't do any videos but we always rate our steak out of 10 just so we can see if our #1 can be topped

went here because of the hype, what a letdown. parker rolls- it's literally just bread🙄 taste like sweet bread you get in any Asian bakery steak- it didn't taste any better than the steak i make at home tbh, i was expecting more dry aged funk baked Alaska- wtf is the hype about? it's literally just ice cream

We would have to agree. Not sure how they determined this was the best restaurant in NYC. Our favorite part of the meal was the up charge bread which says a lot

If the taste of the steak is fantastic, why do you put steak sauce on it? A steak that is cooked to perfection does not need steak sauce in my opinion.
@travelfuller4 күн бұрын
Couldn’t agree more but Kristin just really likes their sauce! We almost never use any of the sauces at the steakhouses we go to, but at Peter Luger she has a few bites with it. Sometimes it can be good to break up eating a lot of the same thing
@matthewj164 күн бұрын
Keen’s is hands down not even close the best steakhouse in NYC. Doesn’t get the publicity that a place like Luger’s gets but it blows it out of the water.

Wolfies is preferable to lugers, but it’s also somewhat location specific. With prices the way they are, steakhouses are less appealing as you can approximate 85% of what they do at home buying a good steak for 70% less in the price.
@travelfuller5 күн бұрын
As in some locations are much better than others? We went to the original thinking it would be the best but it doesn’t seem like they make the breads or desserts here. They would probably be better at a different location. And totally agree. That’s why we started making these videos, because if you’re deciding to go out for a big expensive meal it’s nice to know what the experience is like so you can pick the place that looks the best to you!

@@travelfuller try Kaoru on 46th and 2nd as a hidden Japanese place. For about 23 bucks you get a massive bowl of sashimi with very high quality tuna. Owner apparently has his own fishing boat so that accounts for the quality and price. Bit dated decor, but very friendly staff and tremendous value that people would appreciate I feel.

We’re so lucky to live in NYC where you can find an excellent hole in the wall Italian joint. Granted they’re pretty scarce in Manhattan these days but 25 years ago they were everywhere. My neighborhood in Queens has several. Italian at that price point is just beyond my budget. Spoiled I guess with NY, NJ, CT surrounding us in NYC… too many great old school legit spots with entrees in the $20-$30 range. The price on those meatballs alone made my jaw drop. Plus… cooking excellent Italian at home is simple if you have the time.
@travelfuller5 күн бұрын
Couldn’t agree more. Prices like these need to be earned and I think it’s pretty telling reservations are easy to get. There are so many amazing Italian restaurants around at much more reasonable prices!

I grew up in the West Village and my grandparents used to take the whole family to the Old Homestead when I was a kid. Can’t imagine what that would cost today but I’m guessing even by 1980’s standards , it was pricy. For that reason, the Old Homestead remains my favorite steak house , because the memories are part of it. Gallaghers is a very close second

I’ve had the steak 2 times.. not impressed. Had the burger almost 6 times or more and when it’s good it good but there are times when it’s super gamey. I’ve had that happen about 4 times. It’s just not consistent so I go maybe once a year if that. The last time the burger was funky like liver so I haven’t been back since 2022. The Strudel however was amazing!
