Been really enjoying your videos Chris! Keep up the amazing work. Also currently reading Bookshops & Bonedust after Legends & Lattes. As for a recommendation for Benji, I really loved the Kamagowa Food Detectives. Good if you’re looking for something kind of cozy and all about Japanese food. 😊🍜

and about the Korean author, I'd like to recommend The White Book by Han Kang. Yep, it's short and poetic and easier to read than her other two. I don't know about the English translation but the Vietnamese translation is great.

Ocean made me feel super weird as i was reading it and after i finished it, but as the weeks went by it became one of my favorites from Neil and in general. I read a lot of his stuff before it and knew his life so i immediately noticed he put a lot of himself in that book. I have seen people absolutely dislike it tho, so definitely you have to be a cretain kind of person to enjoy it i guess LOL I still recommend it to anyone who will listen to me talk about Neil, there's something so unique about it. Fun fact, i thought it was funny that you recommended a book by Neil and Neil's favorite book (Piranessi)!😢

I read Circe first and loved it so much, I couldn’t wait to start Song of Achilles, but I couldn’t get past 30 pages, really bummed. The naive insecurity, neediness, hero worship, etc. Patroclus couldn’t grow out of it fast enough to hold my interest, unlike Circle who moved on sooner.

Graveyard Book is excellent! I’ve used it for literature circles and recommended it to many students. Another favorite Gaiman book for students is Norse Mythology. My favorite for personal reading is American Gods.

try the devotion of suspect x by keigo higashino!! itll blow ur mind ive been zooming through his books its SO brilliant and underrated .. its the most unconventional mystery-the most interesting part is the unravelling of the way the crime is committed and not the finding of the murderer, all the characters are smart which makes for a thrilling read, and the investigation does not neglect ‘human tendencies’ and our emotions and is incredibly attentive to them(human nature) which is the key to solving the crime-and thats why its also gut wrenching and wholesome at times despite being a mystery/thriller!! PLZ GIVE IT A SHOT I SWEAR IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😢😢😢🔥🔥(im devastated that no one knows of the incredible way that higashino’s mind works and his amazing writing) hes an all rounder youll be in good hands 😔🙏🏻

Love Benji and Chris! For Benji I recommend anything by Haruki Murakami especially Kafka on the Shore (but it is long) and Shopgirl by Steve Martin. And for Chris you might like 84 Charing Cross Road (which is also a sweet movie from the 80's) about a bookseller.

Next time you’re in Vromans, ask for a graphic novel called Burying Cheng. It’s by a local Pasadena author whose name I forget. It’s about a guy trying to figure out what happened to his father during the Korean war. Very simple artwork, but a moving story.
