I'd say that Never Let Me Go is my favourite book ever. it made me question everything. the value of a person, human life, and as a teacher myself I've always wondered whether what I'm doing is worth it, whether it's necessary to cultivate kids' souls... and I think I got the answer. it was just breathtaking. superb work

omg you've gotten so comfortable with the camera! loved your energy in this video 🤩 also when it comes to romance in books (speaking from my own experience) i feel like finding the writing style that fits your taste is the key! if you've told me 10 years ago i'd be gushing over romantic stuff in the future, i'd probably frown at you lol but now that i found authors, writing styles and *as cliché as it sounds* tropes that suit my taste the best, i found myself really enjoying it. also booktok well... i'm sure heavy romance based stuff that they recommend in there can get dry and repetitive so i completely get the lack in interest when it comes to super popular stuff 😭

I missed the Instagram post but can I recommend a book or two? The lies of Locke lamora by Scott Lynch, and The Sarantine Mosaic (duology). Both are considered fantasy, but I would consider them low fantasy. Lamora gives "gang of thieves in Venice" vibes. Great story, amazing characters, hysterical dialogue, and dramatic. It's part of an unfinished series but could be read alone and be satisfying tbh. Lynch's dialogue and comedic timing is amazing, and the audiobook for this is very well done, if that's your preferred method. Sarantine Mosaic gives "Byzantine artist gets swept up in political intrigue". Kay has the most beautiful prose I've ever read. I feel SO MUCH when I read his books, and these two gave me a fierce book hangover for a long time. When I finished Lord of Emperors, I sat on my couch snuggling the book with happy sad tears. Kay includes elements of mature romance in his books that I have not seen done in other books. The way he writes about the human heart... 😭. Tho his books are not romance, they are certainly romantic in lots of ways. Romance is a human experience, and he weaves it very well into his stories. Highly recommend this duology (and honestly any book by Kay if you like historical fantasy with not much "fantasy").

If you want to try more graphic novels, I recomend Once & Future. it's about mythology/folklore & how you can shape it, it has a badass monster hunter grandma & her adult grandson Duncan trying to stop Lich King Arthur trying to rule great britain again and keeping the normal world safe from knowing the truth about magic & myths or else they get wrap inside it.

If you don’t like romance, the orange book behind you by JD Robb is a romantic cop serial. There are like 60 books following the heroine who is a cop and her husband who is a tech billionaire(who doesn’t exactly follow the law.) I think they’re great, but what I’m picking up on here is that you don’t like front facing romance, but a more subtle and slow burning romance. Often times I see readers say they don’t like romance but, actually just haven’t found their flavor of romance. Romance is not a monolith! I personally do not vibe with dark romances. I don’t want my love interest to be cruel, otherwise I find it hard to believe they actually should fall for each other. Also you might want to try TJ Klune if you haven’t already. (I see you have him on your shelves as well) He does cozy fantasies that have those subtle romances that I’m assuming are in the Emily Wilde book. If you truly don’t like romance that’s okay of course! Loved this video 😊
