This is very good information. I bought a 2004 Honda Pilot which I need to get ready for car camping. I will also be driving from Texas to Alaska next summer and will be camping the whole way in my Honda Pilot

great no hype video. may just be my confirmation bias lol as I have had a lot of these products for years. FWIW two things in keeping with the "compact" theme. flameking makes a 3lb propane tank that's only 10 inches tall. cooks 2-3 meals a day and boils water for coffee for 2 people for almost a month between refills. it and the jetboil foldable 2 burner "basecamp" stove AND a fry pan, and a sea to summit collapsible pot and kettle all fit in the carrying case for the 5lb tank. Very tidy footprint in the rig (just needs to be stored upright due to the propane). and full disclosure the jetboil is expensive. i got mine awhile ago with a serious discount code from a group i belong to. otherwise it does price most people out. but if you can afford it or get a code it's amazing. 2 residential stove quality burners that store in a 9x6 inch footprint. frontrunner has a 5g water carrier with spigot that's same ish footprint as your 2g jeri style (just taller not wider or longer). That said. 2g is fine for most vanlife/trucklife type campers. I go off grid alot in a 4x4 with very little opportunity to restock potable water so 5g potable is more of a necessity for 2 ppl for 3 to 5 days at a time.

Does your Pilot fit a 52inch wide Millards Tri fold mattress?
@JC.Journey2 ай бұрын
No, I don't think so. A 52" wide mattress would need some trimming. We currently use (2) 25" wide Milliard trifold mattresses, side by side. The Pilot is more narrow in the 3rd row, wheel well area (about 48" wide, I think). Our two mattresses, side by side = 50" wide & does fit in the narrow section, but I doubt 52" would compress enough to fit in that area. Hope that's helpful. 😊

Love this! I sleep with a fan 24/7, was wondering if you have any recommendations?
@JC.Journey2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! 😊 We use two, very small, usb rechargeable fans that also work with a power source like a battery bank. They are not big enough to actually cool a space but do create nice air movement across the face. This is the one we use: ► Portable Fan:amzn.to/3Nu10eA (to use it all night, a portable battery bank would be necessary - I think it runs 2-6 hours on it's internal battery depending on which speed setting is used). I'll leave a couple links in the description for ideas - but try searching for something like 'usb rechargeable' or 'usb powered desk fan'; something like this: ► amzn.to/3VNV7NX (full disclosure, we have not used this one, it's just an idea to use as a reference point). Hope this is helpful. 😊

I don't see the point of collapsible bowls and containers. We have a €1 plastic bowl and use it to carry cleaning materials, so it is a storage container. We have a set of tupperware containers which fit inside each other, €4 for 5 containers taking the space of one. I do like the bug screen though. Microfibre towels are no good, they don't dry you, that's why the dry so quickly. Pot noodle is not a meal. Instead of a shovel, I use a flat ended machete, does everything a spade does, plus it cuts stuff and offers protection. Why do you need so many lights? You spend all that money and talk of saving money on one item.

How did you modify the bed
@JC.Journey2 ай бұрын
We trimmed a few inches off the length. An electric bread knife works well on foam. It only needed trimming because of the kitchen build. Without the build the length of the mattress would fit. We are short, so it works for us! Hope that helps.
