I'm a Farmer X Alox man myself but did just today grab a very, very gently used Hiker off eBay for $22 and am looking forward to doing some cutting with it. If they would make the Farmer X Alox in a nice orange color and add a secondary, smaller blade then it would be the perfect EDC multi-tool for me.

Great video mate , New subscriber here. Just ordered a Polish bread bag yesterday. The best firestarter I have found so far is a small jar of sawdust saturated with kerosene. It will not drip or spill and just half a teaspoon of the stuff will catch a spark right first time. It will burn long enough to give you ample time to add twigs. Candle wax produces an enormous amount of soot which seem to go on everything.

I see the Eldris LD more as an extension of my possibilities and not a replacement whilst still keeping it small and lightweight. With the Eldris you can do some small batoning, like kindling for the wood stove. Because of the thicker handle you can have stronger power cuts. And very important, if you gut some fish or butcher some small game it's much easier to clean compared to a folding knife. I have a carbon steel striker with my firesteel so I don't have to use a knife for that and the carbon steel striker will also throw sparks of a flint. And I agree. Use the spine of the saw and not the saw blade itself.

I liked it at first impression, but now that I think about it...a jacket that's wind resistant instead of windproof...and no water protection...it's probably resistant to certain extent. But I believe there are better options out there. It's not the cheapest jacket in the world as well....

If you make your own fire disks again in the future, before putting the cotton pads into your wax, dip them into some lantern oil or tiki torch oil as an accelerant, then dip into wax. That way, it will ensure a sure start fire.

I remember reading a while back to steep this on a lower heat rather than boil as it can damage any active effects you may get from drinking the tea. Currently got some on the hob for 15 - 20 minutes, I usually add some other things towards the end for flavour, like dried fruit herbal teas etc or some green/white tea for a little caffeine. I think otzi the iceman was found with tinder fungus as well as razor strop because he had intestinal worms which it can treat... it has a lot of potential

Your wax tinder didn't light because wax can't be lit with wax and you coated the whole piece inside and out with it. It's great once you get a fire going but it won't take a spark. If you want to use it to catch a spark you need to leave a portion of it unwaxed that you can shred or scrape to light.

Congratulations on your 1st video. Pleas don't take the following to heart, I am trying to be helpful. It's totally up to you if you wish to follow it up or not. The audio is a bit soft. Try to set audio level to average around 0 VU this has been an industry audio target level for almost forever in the history of electronic audio. Yes I know a lot of content creators don't bother, or just go as loud as they can. Yours is a bit to quite though. I'm just saying that if you want to use a guide, a standard target level already exist. There are a number of different scales though, they relate like this: 0 VU 0r dB = +4 dBu = +4.782 dBv = -18 dBfs = 1.228 V(RMS) = 3.472 V(p-p), whichever scale your gear uses will be fine. It's just an average target level, don't try to trim to it constantly. Let the expression jump up and down about there & you'll be good. I like the concept of the Lavvu BTW,
