Bloody fantastic video mate! I'm well impressed. So much I've got to say but first off I'm going to go buy the cross thing for the meths burner 🤣 never seen one until this (crazy i know) loved how you looked inside the pot when you lost it 😂 When the music started at the end i thought it was a police siren.. i was like "shit hide the axe" haha. Love how honest you are mate, keep doing what you've started and you'll smash it. That woodland looks beautiful and needs a good wild camping 😅. Atb Mike.

Thanks so much Mike I really appreciate you taking the time to say that 😁. It’s a strange feeling putting a video up on the web for all to see. I’ve no idea how people will react. Some will be positive, some will be negative I’m sure. But I’m glad you enjoyed it, being a dude that does the same thing makes it even more appreciated 😀👍

Put your Lavvu and ground cloth in a waterproof canoe style bag. A 20L bag will be more than big enough you might even get a 15L bag to work. Nice vid but ditch the stanley plastic cup and get a metal cup. Your Stanley cook set will nest inside the metal cup for a compact package. This isn't my design idea I got it from others. Inside my cookpot is a circular plastic sub pad, single burner stove, spork, multi spice container, coffee pack, coco pack, tea bags, small camp(dish) towel and a lighter. Oh be sure the Stanley cook set top fits the metal cup if you get 1. My sealed cookset sits inside the metal cup, and that goes into a cylindrical belt pouch.

Hey Bill. You’ll be pleased to know I have a metal cup just as you described. However I don’t even use that anymore. I now have a Kupilka kooksa style cup which I mainly use. I really like it. Check out my bread bag videos or my latest video to see it in action. Sounds like you have a nice little compact cookset going there. I’ve been using my titanium one lately 👍

@@steelmanoutdoors4479 hi thanks, yes I've gone small and modular. But I'm also ex military trained so I'm sure that colors my choice equipment. I mostly do day trips half day going in then lunch and returning by dark. Lol its easy get get away for a day plus I'm close to a national forest. I'll go out with beltpack and a nano Haversack to emergency shelter a night. Then for weekend trips I add a camel day pack and a hammock to the belt pack. But then I dont do winter camping either. I think I like the 3 season colors too much, lol. Or a hunting load out rarely with friends. Lol funny thing is I see many more deer on jonts than I even did hunting. Good thing I dont have to depend on that like people used to have to. I just enjoy getting out see all the life around us we don't in town. Put things back into perspective.

Hi Steelman, I think the video is great. In my opinion, all the talking and rambling on is part of the experience that we as viewers have the honor of sharing in your enthusiasm and excitement. For those of us that are not presently outdoors in the forest, we have opportunity to be present with you and in my point of view, it is more enjoyable to spend a few moments with a fellow enthusiast who is genuinely excited to be outdoors in God's creation having a desire to share that experience with others. I’ve got the same Stanley pot that is quite used, now. Someone had a suggestion to break off the plastic bit and replace it with a key ring. It works great on the fire by feeding it slightly back through the base so it stands up. I can pick it up and replace it with a stick.

Liked your video and yes like you I've bought loads of kit during lockdown and not used it yet. Watching your video persuaded me to get a lauuv from military mart and I ordered the size 1 which you have. Got one for £51 quid that included delivery price. They are getting harder to get hold of and becoming rarer. Should get mine soon, looks a great bit of kit, reminds me of Indians in teepes back in time. 👍🏻 🙂 🔥🏕. And yes like you I've watched loads of bushcraft videos and kit reviews.

Hey John. Welcome to the channel and thanks for taking the time to comment. I’ve got more new stuff that hasn’t yet featured on the channel 🙈 been ultra busy lately though so haven’t had any time to get out and film. Hoping to maybe get out tomorrow to film a new knife I have. The lavvu is a brilliant bit of kit and I’m sure you’ll love it. Even when used as a half shelter. For the price I don’t think it can be beat. I think I paid less that £50 for mine so they must be getting dearer now they are harder to find. Hope to see you again in the comments sometime 💪

Have a look at Swedwoods on KZfaq, he has a vid on how to fold up your laavu...ive tried it and it works a treat. You can then strap it to the outside of your bergan. Nice video. I did the same with the loops of cord through the eyelets. Although the poncho is water resistant, it does eventually let in water ( I was out in 12 hours or pouring rain) and the rain tends to run down the strings and the flaps inside which was annoying. I would recommend putting the tint up inside out with the flaps on the outside as an extra layer. Also, buy a couple of tins of Fabsil and paint the outside of your tent with it....after that your lavvu will be water-proof.

Hi! Good video. I like this tent also. Sligh note. In polish we don't have and use that word: lavvu ;-). We speak Polish for it: pałatka (read: p.a.w.a.t.k.a, better check the pronunciation of a word on translator) Lavvu.. is a Sami tent, a kind of tipi, lower tipi, more resistant to strong wind and this is a word from the Sami language (Scandinavian Lapland). Funny journey of words, verbal/naming mess. We (Polish people) made the military raincoat which is called "pałatka" (two are made into a tent), and there is a word for it in English: tipi, tepee but almost everyone calls it: "lavvu" - Sams tent. So the name "polish lavuu" give's U polish sams tipi/tent ;-)

What microphone are you using? A noob myself... Done a couple videos so far using my cell.. however would like to free up my hands. Working on a tight budget.

To begin with I just used my iPhone as a camera and mic. Then I upgraded the camera (but my new iPhone is probably just as good tbh) for better audio I use the Rode video micro. Not too expensive and does make a difference. Got an adapter so I can put it in my cannon camera or my iPhone 💪 best of luck with your videos mate

27kg is to much kit by far especially with a shady fallen tree river crossing that very almost ended up rolling around in nettles, but it was -2°c and as it turns out you can fit a frontier stove and a lavvu in a British army bergin, plus TTF/ through the forks flat bands on a slingshot are actually that good you can actually hit what you aim at more often than not after little practice
