Such an enjoyable excursion, Stephen. Love this Walking Bookseller channel. I wondered as I watched, if some of these great places you cover in these episodes were perhaps visited in your youth, during your age of discovery, teenaged years etc. Great job as always, and the music is well-chosen per usual. Cheers!

I'll ask him when I see him- it's possible. When I can, I'm going to shoot Caerphilly Castle in the Walking Bookseller style- it is one of the two castles within 5 miles of where I grew up and the second largest in the UK (we have more Castles in Wales than in any other country in the World, I believe relative to the small size of the country). If you watch the video 'Dragons and Fables' on my other channel, you see me visit Castell Coch ('The Red Castle') which is a Victorian folly built on the ruins of a far older castle- that's very Corum.

HOW. How is it possible you and Moid BOTH drop a video shot at a Castle on the same day, within Hours of each other? Am I parting the veil? Am I seeing the man behind the curtain? Is it the new custom coffee blend I'm trying?

@@WalkingBooksellerOriginal Hahaha. "He is paid no attention by the man behind the curtain" it would seem. It was just powerfully ironic and I had to share. No shade cast. Love the video! More to come.

I wish I lived there - I would be a different human being - all my nerves would restore themselves. I visited Stonehenge and the old burial grounds near Amesbury. I imagined Hawkwind live in '76.

Nice footage - it really captures the Ballard spirit of technology altering our state of consciousness by its existence. Human beings have become a different being since airplanes have become a part of our lives. I have annual pass to the Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle. I take my sons all the time. We study the designs from the beginning and with the WW2 aircraft. We play a game about the Battle of Britain (Undaunted: Battle of Britain ) airplane battles so we dive into the Stukkas, the Hurricanes, Spitfires, Messerschmitts, Heinkels. etc.

This works surprisingly well without the voiceover. Excellent camera work and, again, the music matches the visuals perfectly. It has a certain dreamlike quality about it all. Well done, Steve.

Just watched the voice-over video and came to watch this one as well. The imagery reminded me of sitting in a parking lot on my dad's truck hitch, eating pizza and watching planes take off and land above us. Fantastic stuff. Thank you.

Fantastic journey, OB, perfect weather, ghostly older aircraft accompanied by the melancholic Occupier score made for an almost surreal experience. Much enjoyed this! I've a background in aviation. Cheers! PS: Will check out the longer voiced-over version on OB.

I have been walking the canal in stages, and look forward to reaching the Bath area. Not sure however that I understand the criticism at the number of houseboats (if such they were, rather than just temporary moorings). It needs to be remembered that 50 years ago the canal was often derelict and unnavigable. For it to thrive now it needs a healthy community of both leisure traffic and permanent dwellers; the canal will decline again if this is not so, and will no longer then be an amenity to walkers either. I appreciate that sometimes stretches can appear to be a bit like a floating favela, but that didn't appear to be an issue in what was shown in the video.
@WalkingBooksellerOriginal
@WalkingBooksellerOriginal Ай бұрын
Well, the walk was heavily edited to exclude a near constant stream of cyclists and runners (and this was before 8am), as I indicated, so it didn't reflect the number of boats fully either. I understand what you mean and totally get your point, but I'm simply making a comparison to the recent past- I first walked this stretch of the canal in 1985 - so that's almost forty years ago- and it was fully navigable then and much more pleasant, allowing for quiet and relatively solitary walking. I'd say my experience is a reflection of many factors- population growth, a desire to live 'off grid' while at the same time taking advantage of an infrastructure some of those dwellers may or may not be contributing to and the explosion in turning rural and semi-rural spaces into an 'outdoor playground' for the sport-obsessed. Yes, I'm looking at it from one perspective- mine- but walking, the oldest means of travelling has been further downgraded in this location by recent social changes. I'm bemoaning that, I guess. Thanks for viewing and commenting, hope you enjoy walking this bit of the canal, but be ready to dodge inconsiderate cyclists constantly.
