The current Minnesota wild home jersey is so nice. Nostalgia is a disease - the north stars looked fine but I’d argue that their jerseys are a bit garish and that logo is extremely dated and actually not very good. Thinking that the Wild look better in North Stars colours is a very uneducated opinion if you ask me. It looks okay but I think it just looks ‘cheaper’ and it screams change for change sake. In terms of colour and meaning and overall branding I love the current red green and beige. It’s beautiful. Yet here we are again seeing a perfectly good identity fall victim to fan pressure. Almost all of whom have no knowledge of design or colour theory etc.
@uglythirds2 күн бұрын
The contrast is better in the North Stars colors, seems more like a day scene. Idk if that's a good thing, but that's the thought. Agreed on the rest - if the Wild make a permanent change, the NHL officially has a nostalgia problem

This is quite a rarity, but I am in almost complete agreement with what is shown here. I detest how the white runs up into the collar on the Stadium Series when the rest of the striping is a different color. The dull maroon text alternate was also worthy of a nomination here. No amount of striping is going to miraculously rescue lifeless and dull text.

@toddgelineau65365 күн бұрын
John, that mat is supposed to be there. I do a lot of t-shirt pressing with a larger version of this. You would have to check your manufacturer's guidelines but at least with t-shirts you're supposed to press it without the decal or number kit (in this case) to get the pad and the shirt both warm and flat and then do the press with the decal. If the shirt is hot/warm, the glue will stick a little bit when you put it in place before pressing to avoid the decals from moving around as you put the lid down. You should lighten the pressure enough to allow the lid to lock into place to ensure even pressure. There should be a pressure setting on the decals but the teflon pillows force you to adjust that quite a bit to be able to operate the press properly. The pad doesn't seem to be a great one. There are much better ones made out of a rubber material that will hold the piece in place better while you're pressing. When putting patches on, you should to use the small teflon pillows to elevate the patches for better adhesion and to avoid burning the jersey.
@uglythirds5 күн бұрын

Good work! Definitely use that dial on top of the plate to adjust the clamp's pressure, just so there's an even distribution than holding down the handle, especially when combining the heat press pillow and the thickness of the jersey. Yeah, echo the comment on having a sheet of parchment or teflon on top of the jersey before pressing, saves it from potentially burning the material.
@uglythirds5 күн бұрын
Question for you on the dial - should I try to loosen it until it still clamps shut with the pillow in there? Should I remove the rubber mat to give more clearance? I also asked about the Teflon sheets in the other comment thread, doesn't seem like I can tag you in it, but please chime in if you know what I'm asking about
@freshl3mon5 күн бұрын
@@uglythirds it'll be a bit of trial and error when it comes to finding the right kinda clamp, especially if you know you're going to use the pillow along with the rubber mat. I'd keep the mat there regardless. But the way you were trying to hold it down suggests you'll definitely need to loosen the knob. It still needs a firm grip to help the glue bond, but not needing Herculean strength to get the handle down.

Pretty good. I would recommend placing a large sheet of paper over the jersey when you press, it will grab the glue and allow you to go high pressure & temperatures. Also recommend a large protractor will give u a nice straight edge for calculating lettering. I work in a store that does this type of customization and lots of fans come in & scoff at the idea of glue on jerseys vs stitching but little do they know alot of jerseys players wear on ice have both. Well done.
@kevinrorke4185 күн бұрын
Ideally you want to use a sheet (or two) of teflon. With paper you still risk scorching the jersey at high temperatures.
@uglythirds5 күн бұрын
Ok, question - upcoming video, I totally did scorch a jersey a little. Not the numbers I was putting down, but some areas near the collar that were also under the press. Are the sheets to protect the stuff around the number or the number itself? How does that affect the temp you need to put the stuff on?
@toddgelineau65365 күн бұрын
@@kevinrorke418 and the paper could stick to the glue creating an even greater nightmare.
@toddgelineau65365 күн бұрын
@@uglythirds When I press shirts, I try to get as much of the collar, including the holes for the strings, etc. off of the pressing surface as they can be scorched and will make the pressing surface less even. The teflon will prevent scorching of the jersey and more evenly distribute the heat. Pressing the same part of the jersey two or three times will also cause scorching, so you may have to turn the whole thing in the other direction to get the whole nameplate pressed in one shot, if you can. Make sure the temperature settings you are using are for poly fabrics which need much lower temps than, say, cotton.
@kevinrorke4185 күн бұрын
@@uglythirds the sheets only offer a minimal amount of protection. For a while I used only the sheets the Customize Sports sent me, and had tons of issues with scorching. I found some teflon sheets on Amazon and have been using those ever since. I stack 2 sheets on top of each other, as well as the pillow inside just for extra caution. You’ll want to make sure the sheets cover the entire area being pressed, or else that kinda defeats the purpose.
