Great stuff, glad you enjoyed it, it's just a completely different feel to it than the usual early start kind of race. The turn on to the last part to the finish the wind got me, I was conflicted because it was doing a great at cooling us down, but completely took my breath away. Still well happy and actually got a faster time than I popped on the video so even more chuffed. So glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching 😊

Congratulations Craig. Just done a bit of investigation. Your chip time was 45:56. Huge well done. 🤩👏🏼👏🏼 Brilliant video. Absolutely fantastic footage. Run in Blackpool many times. Love it but it's always windy and we never seem to feel benefit when it's behind us. Ps. I was once on train to SCARBOROUGH and heard an evil mother say to her kids, the first person to spot Blackpool Tower will get £5, but they also have to be quiet whilst looking for it. 😆

You're right about the wind there, I think I've just had it easy the last few years lol I don't know if evil was the correct description for the mother on the train, I was thinking more genius 🤣 Certainly less worrying than Mandy driving at 70mph and spotting it 90 degrees to the right of the road she's driving down 🤣🤣

Great video Craig, I’ve toyed with the idea of joining a running club but I don’t think I’d be able to attend enough, I tend to swim, run and bike over a typical week. Did join a triathlon club leading up to my first triathlon last August, getting track access was good😊

Cheers Andy. Yes it can be worth it if you do a lot of racing and don't often get chance to run with the group (as long as its affiliated) just to get your extra couple of quid of here and there. Tri club sounds exciting though, I'm definitely getting back into some swimming after race season is up, be pretty cool to try a tri next year. Track access is useful, i like to jump on it on Thursday's if the run for all doesn't fit with a current plan and should really make more of an effort to use it moving forward.

Cheers Craig. Awesome video. Don't beat yourself up. We all make mistakes - that's why they put rubbers on the end of pencils. 😆 Tough parkrun before your race was always going to be a challenge. I ran a parkrun PB just ONE HOUR before a full marathon, and then struggled badly in the latter stages of the marathon. The race looked awesome. A lovely place to run. Regarding fell running, it might seem like a good idea but we're all different so if you're susceptible to falls then is it worth the risk? Only you can decide. The intensity of fell running also hammers the body so could possibly affect future runs/races if you aggravate a niggle. Something to think about maybe. Thanks again. I did enjoy this video. Ps. Congratulations to friend on an incredible swim/run/race. Very impressive.

Cheers Colin, good point about the pencil haha. I could genuinely fall seated and have zero head for heights. By the time I crawled to the top of the hill I was genuinely terrified of falling back down so I'm really glad I didn't. I have full admiration for folks that do but it really isn't for me, and I'd very much like to stay injury free especially as it's Blackpool run the lights 10k this coming Saturday 😊 A parkrun PB an hour before a marathon makes me feel loads better 😂😂 I'll let Gaynor know you said well done too. @@TheRunningWhale Sorry for delay. Effort and a bit of struggle are part of the appeal but running essentially has to be enjoyed. Sometimes, we see people doing races and feel we should be doing it also. I see this quite a lot with marathons and ultras. It's very important to focus on what we enjoy and not be swayed too much by others. Fell runners are amazing but for many, just the thought of them doing long distances on a flat road would be their idea of hell. Good luck in Blackpool. @sagsdothedu thank you and yes, that's the Hoverx in action there. Proper good bit of kit. Whilst it's not purely just a running club, I joined Bury AC a couple of months back. I'm still meeting people and getting to know them, but the big benefit I have found is in running track nights with people that are better then me. It's daunting lining up next to such great runners but it has given me some structure and something to aim for, and I look at it not as me being slow but as me having the most opportunity for improvement. I only have to be careful not to push so hard that I over-do it. These more social type of clubs are very different though, and it would be interesting to run with one one day.

Yeah I know we have the track on Tuesday but after long run Sunday Monday tends to be my day off so th thought of starting my running week on the track just doesn't appeal but may do in the future. I don't mind if we do sessions on a Thursday of course. This is why having so many options is great, there's literally something for everyone. Like you say, it can be daunting jumping straight on the track with the faster folks, but depending on ability, working up through the groups really helps with the confidence. Glad you're getting plenty out of your club pal 👍

Cheers Craig. You didn't mention the most important reason - the social side. I see so many positives from your own running club participation. Trying new routes and friendships are obviously really good but most important of all is you seem happy. 🙂 My own experience sadly hasn't been so positive. There are lots of cliques within the club. Conversation was difficult and I felt like an outsider. I see same people at parkrun and they’re chatty but not at the club.

That's not a nice feeling and of ALL the sports out there, the last place to expect that is at a running club knowing how inclusive and lovely most runners are.

@@TheRunningWhale They wanted me to do club races, which didn’t fit in around races or life at time - maybe they had bee in their bonnet over that? Just recently they’ve introduced a system where even though my twin brother is FULLY AFFILIATED, he (and all club members) won’t be entered into the London club ballot unless they volunteer at 2x events. Events on the list include Abbey Dash and Morley 10k, which have absolutely nothing to do with the club. They claim other clubs have same policy but not heard of it myself. (Apologies for the rant). 😆

The answer is definitely yes! Being part of a running club makes the whole thing much more social and enjoyable, and like you say, you end up pushing yourself more than if you were out by yourself. This is exactly it. I think some people are scared of not being able to keep up and not being good enough because everyone at a club is some kind of pro which as we know is 100% not the case. York is one lovely place to run around. So pleased how the video turned out, this new camera is a heavy little bugger but worth it to share with everyone. I expect the marathon could be a bit challenging (not to you of course with your background lol). Have thought about signing up before, maybe for my return to the marathon next year. The niggles seem to have dissipated, so hopefully they will stay away. Thank you as always, your support is really very much appreciated pal :-)

@@TheRunningWhale Scales are for fish. We’ll say no more about the ‘f’ word. 🙂 I’ve never run an ‘easy’ marathon. They’re all a huge challenge, but some are just more challenging than others. I genuinely think most who can run a half, can also complete a marathon. It’s something you should consider, if you want to of course. 🙂 Congratulations once again on a brilliant York 10k. Keep up the awesome work.

Wow !! Well done. Looks quite an enjoyable course with lots to take in although twisty but I prefer that to long straight stretches. Heard bad things about the traffic and parking situation. I guess getting there earlier the better. Good luck for Blackpool !! I'm doing Vale of York 10k next month

Thank you , it is a great course and the twists and turns make it all the more exciting. Of course the traffic in is bad. Had a few last minute arrivals in the past so knew to get there early this time. Getting out of the car park/field was more of a trial this time lol. Ooo Carl mentioned the Vale of York one on Sunday. Good luck with that, I look forward to seeing your super speedy time ;-)

Cheers Craig. Netflix vs Running Whale - no contest but please don’t put your fees up. 😆 Great video. What an awesome parkrun Keswick is. Beautiful scenery, nice smooth paths and lots of character with the run through tunnels. Well done on a good, solid run. Hope you left plenty in the tank for today's York 10k. Thanks again. Ps. We love Mandy's shorts. 😎

Thanks Colin, I'll keep it free for as long ad I can but if we haveto swap put Sister Mandy for Ryan Reynolds I might need to review the situation 🤣 Yes it is an absolute stunner of a spot, I was worried about the tunnels making the video do that horrible shake thing with it being low light but think I've nailed it with the settings now. Mandy will be glad to hear this btw 👌
