Just ran this trail the other day in my 06 Suburban Z71 with 33s. It's definitely a fun trail. Challenging drive in some areas with a rig as big as mine. But all the views and the Honanki Dwellings made the drive well worth it.

Recreation.gov says hikers, mountain bikers, UTVs, and 4x4. So I am assuming that would include a SxS. To be safe I would call Red Rock Visitor Center at (928) 203-7500 to double check.

Thaks for the look/see. I have made many drives on FR143, but always wondered what FR11 was like. Now I know. Thank you. I will have to make that a destination sometime. Do you remember what the mile marker is for the exit north onto SR87? I was wondering how close it was to the Ballantine Trailhead, which is about MM210. Thanks again for a nice ride.

I don’t know the mile marker but here are the GPS coordinates of where the trail intersects with 87 on the north end. 33.75499, -111.49740 From what I can tell I believe it is about a mile and a half south of the Ballantine Trailhead. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. I don’t know all the specs of your Jeep but I can tell you what I had when I ran these trails. My Jeep was a stock Rubicon on 33” tires. The first downhill section in this video was pretty aggressive and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you are newer to this. I mapped a lot of the trails back in this area and they are posted on Trails Offroad app.

Great vid. Why do you like the DJI cams over the GoPros?
@Trail89Adventures
@Trail89Adventures 15 күн бұрын
I was always getting sun spots and glare. I think it was because of the square lens. The first camera I bought was the original DJI osmo about 4-5 years ago. I think it had the rear screen where maybe the gopro didn't. (Don't remember exactly) I did buy a gopro about 2 years ago and kept running into that glare issue. I just bought a DJI osmo 4 and really like that camera. I still have the gopro but just rarely use it.

From where this splits off the main backway route, how does the drive time compare to the popular route?
@Trail89Adventures
@Trail89Adventures 25 күн бұрын
@@mehGyver this route is actually longer from a miles perspective as it loops up to the north side of CK near Towers Mountain then you head south into town. It is easier however with no obstacles to speak of so you don’t get backed up. So miles wise longer, time wise a bit shorter but I am basing that on the extra traffic and obstacles on the regular back way.

@@Trail89Adventures Cool. Thanks! I've been doing the popular way since the mid 90s, and it's just not as fun anymore with all of the knuckleheads, plus certain sections are problematic. @@mehGyver mid week runs are the best! The biggest issue we ran into running the alternate back way was that trail became the return route for the SxS traffic that ran the BWCK trail north. I enjoy my GMRS I rarely use it though. I have mine for emergency. I just have the smaller midland 15w in RUBI and I have a handheld walkie talkie. I have been able to bounce off a repeater and reach Mayor Az. easily with the handheld. The unit I have mounted in the jeep I use that little ghost antenna mounted in the worst location right between the gate and spare tire, but it seems to be fine out in the desert where in an emergency I'd use it. Awesome video, I love the setup you have in the back of your jeep, I want to do something similiar. How do those side window grid mounts actually mount to the Jeep?

@@Raydawg the inside of the back of my Jeep is a never ending project. I will get it done one of these days. It is gonna be set up ready to go at a moment’s notice for a quick weekend out in the sticks. The panels on the side have four brackets each. Two at the top clip onto the rain gutter lip and the two on the bottom clip into the slot between the hardtop and the body.

Couple things... I had been using CBs for years in all the rigs I've had. Over the years less and less people were using them. I had one on a quick release mount for me Jeep and I haven't even used it in a few years now. I was always the only one with one recently. I had some of the handheld FRS and been using those. The handheld FRS seem to work better than the CB ever has for me. I bought the small midland gmrs which I believe is the same one you have. Mounted it to the quick release the CB was on. I also bought one of those stub antennas. I mounted it through the rear opening up by the cowl. Never used it. I messed up the antenna cable when running it through the firewall and behind the dash. I think I can fix it I will just need to re-crimp the end. My laziness there has me using the handhelds for the last couple years. I also had a switch panel I've been sitting on for over a year. Can't decide where to mount it. I had never considered up high like you had yours. I have some cheap amazon ditch lights on my truck and they interfere with the stereo when I turn them on, it buzzes through the speakers. So that checks out. Great video, I'm not sure when you filmed this but I can't stand being in my garage more than about 10 minutes in the summer. :)

@@cw50must Filmed it about a week ago. Was just going to fix the antenna problem and decided to go all in. It was brutal in the garage. These definitely work significantly better than CB for sure. Thanks for the feedback and checking out the video.
