I've been researching into this topic and I came across information that claims a sound quality difference between wiring for 2ohms vs 4ohms. And I'm not talking about volume, I'm talking about sound quality and reproduction. Can you please cover that in detail?

In the late 80s, I custom built my own sub box with 4 12"s for my 1985 (now 3rd gen) camaro. It was perfect. Unfortunately, I got rid of the super heavy box. There aren't many good choices for a sub box for them online. They have an oddly shaped space in the trunk. Do you have any recommendations for an old bass head with my (currently stock) 3rd gen camaro? I wouldn't mind smaller subs with an integrated amp solution.

The biggest mistake I’ve seen is when they mounted in the box and slip off the screw and put a hole in the sub

If you're doing it for sound like myself...face the subwoofer into the car not towards the trunk cause it looks cool from the trunk .. nobody cares it's for sound in the car..or if it is

New to the car audio. Im currently working on replacement my OEM speakers, with no additional amps/sub. But ive been brainstorming the possibilities of having a removing unit for the amp/sub if i was to fit it in my trunk, just like this cause there may be some instances for i require more space. This definitely solves that issue or will inspire me to make this kinda build eventually. Do you guys have an instruction for that cable line coming from the OEM head unit to the back.? I may need to do that line/cable work before attaching this to a removable unit like you did here.

This is why a DSP is needed for every system. So you can control everything. Get better SQ. Your system will be focused instead of sounding like the speakers are playing everywhere. And you can take that same sub/box and put it in another car and it will not sound the same because every car's cabin is different....

One thing I noticed about my cables on a 4-channel amp is that the outers end up touching each other. Is that okay to have the grounds touching each other?

The main reason why I am interested in getting a DSP is to play music in such a way that reflects the ambiance of a social acoustical environment, I am installing a ATOTO S8 along with an ATOTO amplifier in a 2002 C5 Corvette with OEM speakers. The OEM speakers do not sound busted to me. I am the first and only owner of my Corvette, so I am very familiar with this history of the car. I want to play music and shut my eyes to see if I can simulate the sound that would come from a Church, Amphie-theater, Jazz Club, and perhaps a Canyon type surrounding. The idea is to full the mind to think the music one is experiencing sounds as if one is not sitting inside a 2 seated convertible corvette.

My CCA wire reaches my trunk. My OFC wire only reaches under the driver seat which I’m not a huge fan of mounting amps under seats. Is OFC wire that much better that I should just mount my amp under the seat?

The term crossover seemed a lot more complicated and specialty than it actually was until I realized that you don’t need a DSP to filter things out

It's slightly off-topic, but another issue for quite a few applications is installing aftermarket component speaker-tweeter combo sets on the front channels. Most automakers have the speaker and tweeter in parallel, creating a 2 ohm load. Most DIY installers will just plug into the factory wires leaving out the included crossover since many consider it too tedious to run the extra wiring...especially if the tweeters mount either to the pillars or to the dash. Thus, the aftermarket speaker/tweeter sets will try to draw too much off the stereo, resulting in hideous high pitch clipping from the tweeters if the volume is too high.

I have a 79 Lincoln that died on the road today. It was the result of a bad alternator. Now, I believe that it is an original spec alternator for that vehicle (60 to 70 amp). I have a very small aftermarket sound system that is 800 w, powering two, 12-in subs. My question is, do I just replace the alternator with something similar to factory spec? Or, do I go with something bigger (like 100 amp or higher)? I've heard that going too big. Can damage the battery and possibly electrical components in the vehicle. Just want to know what I should do in this situation? Thank you in advance

I'm getting far into this car audio hobby, and so far, I've done it like this in my current car: 1st: head unit, subwoofer and wires that was capable of running the sub 2nd: component speakers in the front doors with a compact amp and it's own bad wires for a short term upgrade 3rd: replaced power wires with a thinker power cable from battery to trunk, added power distribution block with fuses in the trunk, added way better amp for the doors located in the trunk, added a high quality (quad shielded) 4-channel RCA cable to the new amp, and added short term speaker cables from amp to front doors next up, as I'm going to do it: 4th: component speakers in rear doors, add permanent speaker cables to all doors 5th: either sound deadening or add DSP 6th: do what wasn't done at #5, and tune the system I will get a better head unit as well before the DSP, but idk when, it all depends on money, ofc, and because I need a car to drive pretty much all the time, I must have a car available during the whole process, which results in sound deadening to be late in the build, even tho I know it will improve the sound a lot :/ might do the sound deadening step-by-step, so starting with just doors, then trunk, and do the rest later, but idk. maybe the roof as well because I know it's really soft, it's so soft that pushing with a few finger on top of the car, it will flex

I've installed subwoofer with a lot of help in my previous car, then moved the subwoofer to my current car with little help and got some JL Audio C5-650's in my front doors at factory locations with most of the job done with help, and I've helped a friend installing a similar subwoofer in a similar car as my current car, so a total of 3 installations, none which contains custom fabrications, yet. I will get a subwoofer box custom built for a JL Audio W7 element one day, but not something I'll do by myself, as I'm far from being a woodworker. I'm a PC guy, tho, so I will probably program some custom lighting for my interior, controlled by a micro PC like the Raspberry Pi 5
