GREAT EPISODE! I'm going to be doing a similar series on a stroker UL in the near future. The question I have is wouldn't this be a great time to fit a torrington (koyo) b-138 inner cam bearing in place of the bushing? I've done both with great results, but I've HEARD (not experienced) that some of the repop bronze isn't quite up to snuff. Not criticizing, just curious.😊

Hi brother! Awesome video! I have a 1977 shovel and when I bought the last owner said to me that he changed the oil pump, the put an Evo oil pump. My bike is spitting oil all over and I want to put the shovel oil pump back. What u think, idk what is the difference and what he probably has done to the bike when he change it. Tnks very much for the video and I will be so glad if you can help me. Hugs from Brazil.

At 0:28 it’s noted that you can cleanup the check ball seat using an old check ball. How does that cleanup the seat? And does the check ball size have any significance? Should we measure to make sure it’s the correct type? Sorry. I’m just uncertain about this part. Thank you.
@chazzcapone.2 ай бұрын
Thank you for producing a clear, straight forward, easy to understand video. I’ve tried watching other videos but the amount of non sense and useless chatter makes it unbearable. I honestly have been very uncertain and frankly scared about doing this work in any Harley engine. But after learning from your educational instructional videos, and that’s what these really are, I believe that I am much better equipped to tackle one of these jobs on my own. Thank you!! Awesome job.

Spud good video, I have a 1980 Flh80 and was able to accomplish this task with the help of Pacific Mike, check his vids out and yours are top shelf videos for a shovelhead enthusiast as well. Can you tell me what brand of snap ring pliers and what 1/4 drive torque wrench you are using as I want to upgrade my tools and you demonstrated both? Hoping your wrenching is going well and keep teaching all of us that have shovels to maintain. Thank you.

When the crank is fitted into the cases I inject a bunch of oil into the connecting rods on the crank pin race, this way I do not have to remove the rods after final fitting after honing/cleaning and risk dropping a needle etc

I have a 2004 sportster taking a measurement of my crankshaft in the truing stand Exactly where you were measuring I’m getting .002 The service manual says to measure on the outer ends of the shafts. Measuring there I’m getting .004 on both ends. Service manual states anything over .002 on the ends should be serviced and turned. Thoughts I this? I was always told to measure closest to the flywheels. I’m wondering if truing is necessary. Thanks
