The problem with Season 3 is that it never explained what happened to several Transformers from earlier season who were not seen in the movie. We see Omega Supreme, Superion, Defensor, Menasor, etc but there is no explanation of who died in the movie other than the ones we saw die (and Huffer). The fates of Smokescreen, Sideswipe, Bluestreak, Inferno, Grapple, etc are never revealed, even when they visit the Autobot sarcophagus ship

Season 2 is pure Camp like old school Batman, it is seriously hillarious, Enter The Nightbird, B.O.T., The Girl who loved Powerglide, The Revenge of Bruticus, all Gold. The Golden Lagoon is especially dramatic. A raider in King Arthur's court Aamazing. The deeper layers are awesome. As an 80s kid I had no complaint. Season 3 sucked for G1 wunners because Optimus Prime was dead. Yet there were some really good episodes. The first killing off off Optimus Prime easily one of the most traumatic episodes in all TV for me.

I agree that the series kind of died at the end of Season 5, they could have ended it with the HS graduation and all of us 90s kids would have been happy. Boy Meets World was one of my favorite show. I didn't think that Girl Meets World was that bad either when I watched it with my goddaughter.

Season 1 and 2 were good.. season 3 was awful by comparison apart from a few episodes most notably Call of the Primitives which had better animation. Its a shame that the opening score in season 3 was rubbish compared to s1 and s2. Season 4 was ironically called the rebirth which was so much getter than season 3 but it stopped after that and the very poorly dubbed Japanese headmaster where the 1990s toy line was introduced never took off. Its a shame as Transformers became a hit in the theatres years later and many remember the g1 series. At least the Power of the Primes and War for Cybetron bought back the g1 vibe and had better animation

I also like to point out is Mr. Freeze should have never had been brought back after Subzero. That film concluded Freeze’s character arc and that was a happy ending. Then All of a sudden he comes back only to become a villain again for no legit reason at all.

The movie murdered the franchise and it never ever rocovered. But the coked up imbeciles running hasbro ruined the entire world and were SCRAMBLING to unfuck it. Even realized their BRILLIANT idea to replace optimous with that trash can hotrod moron was terrible as a story decision and the toy was hated.

Hi, dear American friends! I'm from taiwan. This cartoon was aired in taiwan in about 1993(?)(I was too small to remember the exact time) I remember watching this cartoon being astonished by it. It did bring me some cultural impacts, such as kissing in public. Because in Asia it's considered very bad to kiss in public, especially in traditional 90's. I was astonished but also found out something new about western world. I did enjoy the show and I took it for granted. I thought it is just a common US cartoon and didn't have too many opinions on it. Now I'm in mid 30's, looking back to this cartoon, I finally found out how excellent the cartoon is! I think it is really a symbol of American cartoon, combining traditional American culture and new technique. It's rich in both artistic and business value. The artistic style, stories,music and voice acting can't be overestimated. I feel honored to watch this cartoon in that era, but also feel sorry that this kind of diamond may not be produced anymore by current Americans.

Tell me you weren’t alive in 1984 without telling me you weren’t alive in 1984. The G1 series was NEVER on Saturday mornings. It always aired Monday-Friday. I watched on WUAB Channel 43 out of Cleveland, which broadcast the show at 4pm, followed by GI Joe at 4:30.

Not gonna lie, it is a very sad shame that the 1980's G1 TRANSFORMERS cartoon ran out of steam by 1987. I really do wish the Female Autobots reappeared in the 3rd season and I wish the 3-part episode THE REBIRTH had a better plot as well.

I stopped watching with season 3. I did not know what happen to Optimus and his replacement was annoying.
@crsrdash-840b55 күн бұрын
Corrections: It was the year 2005 (in the movie) a lot has changed. The Autobots were NOT heading to Earth, it was just in their way as the planet they crashed on. They were in status lock for over 4 million years and rebuilt by Teletraan One as vehicles of the planet's tech. Season Two failed mostly because of the worst mistakes in animation, voice matching, and character placements. Season Three was worst with every episode having bad mistakes. Season Four was a good start, but lack reasoning for the time differences.

In my opinion, as a G1 fan and collector, G1 ends when the last G1 characters leave the show, which happens in Headmasters. By the way, those episodes are also the best, full of combiners fighting. Sadly, they are only available in Japanese.

I went off transformers when the vehicle modes started becoming more and more futuristic. One of the appeals to me was having transformers that looked like real vehicles - and as a kid walking down the road and seeing a VW Beetle or a Datsun 280ZX and imagining it was Bumblebee or Bluestreak. As much as I love Transformers the Movie - by killing off most of the original characters - they also killed this grounding in 'realism'.

Even if it was done for cynical, short-sighted, money-grubbing reasons - there's something I find kind of perversely delightful about a beloved children's series abruptly going all Game of Thrones on its characters. Even as a kid, watching episodic shows like Transformers, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, etc which nearly always had the same formulaic outcome with the bad guys defeated - or rather, temporarily thwarted but otherwise unscathed - and the status quo being routinely reset to the point of making the episodes themselves largely interchangeable, I found it got repetitive, predictable and boring. Seeing the villain repeatedly _almost_ steal the same MacGuffin of Ultimate Power or whatever for the millionth time only to inevitably fumble and lose it in the last second once again just got frustrating. I'd find myself wishing the big bad guy's plan actually _would_ succeed for once. Rather than the usual last-minute "curses, foiled again" ending where nothing truly significant actually happened, I wanted something with real drama and stakes. I wanted events with serious impacts to occur, with outcomes that couldn't be neatly resolved by the end of the episode. That's probably why I ended up loving the 1994 series ReBoot so much, since that was the one show that finally _did_ shatter its status quo in shocking fashion and really lean into it significantly _more_ than transformers.
