El noventa por ciento de las versiones de la Chacona se basan en la de Segovia, su transcripcion era su pieza favorita y es perfecta en su concepción para guitarra como instrumento polifónico, otros han preferido la simplicidad (Pepe Romero) asimilándola en cierto modo al violín o a llenarla de adornos barrocos(Leo Brouwer), pero creo que queda demasiado pobre teniendo en cuenta la concepción arquitectónica de la música de Bach. Los que no son capaces de reconocer su enorme valor, musicalidad y variedad de matices demuestran que nunca llegarán ni siquiera a medianos profesores de conservatorio. Segovia fue en su época un músico genial e irrepetible como también lo fue Casals... luego hay... otros.
