I saw an article, about 2 years ago, in "carbine magazine", and fell in love with with the "Fightlite SCR". The only problem was it was discontinued. Didn't make sense, but they have resumed making them. If you look them up online you will see one of the prettiest rifles ever made. Just my opinion.

Question. When you get one of those SCR lowers, I see it comes with 'bolt carrier, BC strut, and pin', but what else is missing to mate it with an upper? I can see I'll need to get a charging handle, but it looks like the Bolt Carrier that comes with it is missing the front piece? What did you need to add to make a complete SCR AR?
@marcelw6440
@marcelw6440 Жыл бұрын
The bolt is the front end piece you're talking about. After that you would need a complete upper.

Hi - i dont know the technical details but the SCR is based off of Remington's internal stock buffer which makes the Remington stock an exact fit minus a little sanding.

Damn, been looking for one too. Wonder if the run on guns over the past year and a half has anything to do with it, since the prices of ammunition and firearms alike have been sky high. But that wouldn't stop Fightlite from making more rifles, hell they'd probably have incentive to make even more, so unless it's selling out the moment they have a batch ready I dunno what's happening.

Not sure if it’s common practice with motorcycles or not, but you should always fill the your oil filter with some oil too. Just fill it 3/4 quarters full. You should do this so that when you start your engine there isn’t a gap of time where oil isn’t being pumped through the engine. Some people don’t do this and I don’t really understand why. It’s such an easy thing to do and it potentially prolongs your engine life

When installing a new gasket, you should use sealer just where the two crank cases meet, (the gasket should be dry) about 10mm either side of the join. I use Threebond 1207B for that, which is the recommended gasket sealer in the Suzuki manuals... with a new clutch kit, gasket and springs, you should have also done the clutch adjustment on the outside of the clutch cover at the bottom, before connecting the clutch cable... The only time I will ever use a gasket sealer on a gasket, is if the gasket surfaces are old or have been damaged, in which case I will use Loctite 515...

Shawn i had a question,i have a 550 that was gifted to me from a buddy and its the classical story where it was sitting for 30 years and everything is seized etc etc,on my clutch, that plate that holds the clutch together with the four bolts is rusted good but only surface rust,i have access to a bead blaster,could i just blast that and once i put the engine together and oil is flowing it will coat it and be ok or should i buy a new plate? there are other things inside the engine that are rusted so i guess my question would apply to those also, its good surface rust,its not growing stalagmites or anything like that,lol, thank you for your time. on another note i am planning on rebuilding the whole engine and taking my time.

One important tip: If it's not on a track stand, or even if it is, lean it over a few times and have a friend check before you start putting it back together. When I did, my friend noticed the drips turned into a flow for a few moments. This was AFTER I was pretty sure there was none left.

look up cognitomoto, they're using a lot of these gsxr front ends on old bikes like these. The CB500 and 550 have a perfect length STEM, so you can just put in new neck bearings and its done. Although I think you don't want those ugly gsxr wheels on your cb550.. That's why I'm watching this video..

Did my first ever Clutch rebuild on my CB550K. This video was invaluable in the details. What I made mistakes on was the learning event. I found I needed to remove the Footpeg, Brake pedal and the kick starter. I needed to understand the fine points of adjusting the cable at both ends. Even the rear brake needed to be adjusted at the end. I'd never have the courage to do this without this video, it proved to me that the job was within my capabilities. I love the feel of a clutch that works like new! It allows me to feel confident riding this bike in all conditions. I lost confidence for a while, but got it back with a bike that responds to my touch.
