The Super NES version also removed the lava in that stage, and instead had the characters fall into sand.

Reg genesis has more tecture in the rocks like stones pop out more than arckade. Even back forests in some parts of sega has more deataled like the sign with forests has more texture and details.At same time arckade has more bigger washed out sprites and extra detail animation scenes like kicking enemies.

This was like a trip down memory lane, remembering my first time playing through back then. The game gets some flack today from armchair critic types and it's undeserved.

Even lacking details, i like the Genesis version a lot. The dark colors fits better the game tone. I just wished Sega coukd use a bigger cartidge size on the Genesis conversion

I played so much Golden Axe back in the Genesis days. One of my favorites. The colors are an improvement on the Genesis. The arcade looks faded and dull.

You should mention that emulated like that it doesn't include the scanlines that would show on the arcade screen. Scanlines would makes the graphics better looking. Emu's can also emulate the scanline but you won't be 100% sure it would truly reflect the arcade screen version.

I see inspirations from Activision's River Raid (though they used a "jet") in this game. Narrow levels. Occasional split pathes that reconnect. Flying vehicle solely shooting at ground based objects. It even has the top down perspective.

@@playnalisisNo offense, but that's like what every AI YTber says when accused of being an AI. Then they go on to state that they're trying to find someone new to voice videos. That said, this game is kinda niche compared to other Sega super scalers, so I have an easier chance believing you here.

If you want to pretend you wrote a script this soulless and bland, that's fine. But anyone familiar with the AI is painfully aware of this essay style. This game was never considered all that revolutionary or a timeless classic, by the way. It was a gimmick that added an unpolished overhead view to a familiar gameplay style. And ripped off Blue Thunder, because Sega didn't take copyright law very seriously.

Out of all arcade games Thunderblade impressed me most technically when it came out, the 3D effect scaling was incredible, a big step up on Outrun or Afterburner. Not so impressive on the Master System unfortunately.
@playnalisis
@playnalisis 13 күн бұрын
I mean even the Genesis was not a good port. You can’t blame the master system. Not even the Genesis had the power to scale one single sprite.

The SNES version was pretty good. It was a valiant, faithful effort but the YM2151 arcade soundtrack is undefeated. The leads, basslines, drums and orchestral hits were just on another level. Ueko Harumi did a phenomenal job with composing both versions' music. She is one of my favorite musicians of all time.

I love the music in this game. This is something you don't get with modern games and musicians. People see action game and they think they have to write techno or rock music for it which is so generic. Double Dragon 1 and 2 had the same kind of vibes.

The answer is no, it would not sound better. But it would sound like a very solid approximation. And a game isn't just music, so I think we'd need to hear them side by side with all the music plus all the in-game sound fx at once to get a better idea. Also, best to keep in mind the Genesis version was made with literally more than three decades of time to work on the most advanced sound drivers and to hone everything to perfection there. The SNES version ain't even using its Dolby Surround sound option as one way it could immediately be even better in 2024+, never mind what might be possible if using the most advanced sound drivers that can be made now, the highest quality samples possible, plus over three decades of learning and such. So, yeah, I don't think we're comparing F-Zero audio like for like here, and I think the SNES would win under equal conditions. PS. I think we should also consider what I said above again regarding a game not just being music, because what we really should compare is the best version of full F-Zero the Genesis can manage next to the best full version of F-Zero the SNES can manage (which is far beyond even the current version), and then I think any debate would be instantly silenced--because that's really what this is all about at the end of the day.
