As a brewers fan, saying that Joe Ross is the 4th starter just shows that you actually don't know anything about them. Barring injury he probably isn't even making the playoff roster. Peralta, Rea, Myers, Civale, Montas are the current rotation.

A lot of the negative Houston stats are from the first month. Most of those losses when they were 12-24 where against winning teams (because of them sucking so much). You cant just remove those first 36 games but it makes it so taking a blind look at the season doesnt give you the correct context. But i find it incredible that they started 12 games ynder .500, and now they are 12 games over .500

Every rule Manfred has put forward screws pitchers. The 3 out minimum destroyed the Loogy role. The shift ban prioritizes hitters. The 6 inning rule will put incredible pressure on starters. Guys will not throw softer. We know velocity wins the battle. Pitching to contact is all well and fine except the shift is banned and the ball could get juiced again. This whole thing feels like tinkering with the sport and using rules to dictate the strategy of the game.

His problem right now is he’s conflicted between what his personal batting coach, John Nunley wants him to do which is just find a fastball and violently hit it up the middle. The pirates were organization wants him to lift the ball in the air and get line drives to the outfield.

It's funny to hear commentators here in general agreement about how cool it would be to be able to bring in your best bat ad hoc in big situations, yet on the flip side seem cool with the opposite idea here for pitchers. Like, the idea of an opener in a big game against a top heavy lineup is awesome to me, and so is the idea of Schwarbs, Turner, Harper, Bohm dealing with that in the first inning.
