So do you have them write on the paper or are they writing over the sheet protectors?

The sheet protectors are used just to divide the work and to avoid having to hole punch everything. We pull the pages we are working on out of the sheet protector and write on them.

That's a great tip.. the new foods like fish can be called special chicken or other familiar foods. Mix in healthy foods that toddler cannot see. :) Overtime though it's necessary to overcome the yuck looking syndrome:) We mix into our toddlers meals, wild caught salmon, liver, chicken liver, sardines, etc

We LOVE Explode the Code. Sooo easy and to the point open and go. They do have practice sentences to read but no readers that go hand in hand so we read with Bob Books.

We just finished Frindle, it was so cute! I tried starting Where the Red Fern Grows with my newly 7 year old, but she wasn’t interested. I’m going to try it again next year 😄

I’m excited for Frindle! Yeah I think Where the Red Fern Grows was a bit of a slow start, took a while to get into it. I’ll have to tread lightly with my expectations haha can’t hold it against the kids if they’re not as excited about it as I am haha

I’ve tried this method but like you, the lesson that starts on the back throws my ADD off the rails…. I wish workbook creators would realize how annoying this is…. 😖
