Excellent video and excellent advice. I am contemplating a classic car myself and this is most helpful.

Another poor example of how to start a Silver Ghost. Here is a novel idea. Read the Owner’s Manual. It is clearly described It isn’t complicated.

As the owner of its predecessor, the S Type, for 58 years I can agree with your assessment. the 420 has bigger front brakes, the Variomatic steering, factory AC which are pluses but otherwise much the same driving experience but mine is a manual with overdrive car, not automatic.

love your video's Kaspar, this is another understated gem, just as your vid to Chicago was... full of charm and grace, just like your Bentley T.... just listening to you talk puts a smile on my face... "...is it worth it? Yes, because there's nothing better than motoring in the countryside with someone you love... but when you get your first big repair bill, put it in the file....have a glass of scotch and forget about it"

Superb information Kaspar, every prospective buyer should watch this. Beautiful cars if in good unmolested condition, but plenty of neglected ones out there. I've seen cars with 100k on the clock and still magnificent; because the keeper understood how to prevent deterioration.

Good day ! Could you please tell , what the usage of fuel per 100 kilometers is on this car in different situations ? Cant find any info at the internet about how much it consumes .

Sir William certainly hit the design language "sweet spot" with the 420 and to a lesser degree the 3.8S

Splendid just Splendid and greetings from the UK- about 50 miles from Coventry . As a MK2 , E-Type and others owner - there is nothing like a good road trip in a Jaguar.

Inferior in every way to the cars built in Derby England. The fact that they were built in England gave them 'snob appeal' this is why production stopped.

Good accounting of what you will be in for in maintenance and that is only if you acquire one in very good condition to begin with. Problem is going to be finding technicians knowledgeable enough to service and repair them. They are at least 50% mechanically different from other cars. The mechanics who serviced them are either deceased or past the age of working. I retired after 35 years of servicing them and am 80. Your best bet is to buy some tools, access service information and join the RROC which has a repair forum for members. Thousands of searchable posts explaining many facets of Silver Shadow and other era servicing and repair. Lots of fun if you like mechanical automotive challenges.

Beautiful classic. Is the engine a straight six? Looks like twelve wires from two coils - two plugs per cylinder? Wonderful engineering.

This is actually very poor technique for starting a Silver Ghost. It owiuld have started first time if he used proper technique. And hadn't molested the original ignition system with modern electronics.

I've always found that the drivers of classic cars are friendly. I drive a 1965 Silver Cloud III and have done for more than 40 years, as the second owner. People love to chat and exchange information. It's a great way to make friends.

I own a Bentley T1 1970. They are a wonderful car to drive. But an absolute money pit. I have owned this car since 2007. I have drove it not more than 2,000 miles in 15 years. The cost of ownership is approx £100 per week. If i added all what i have spent on this car.
@KasparArnault
@KasparArnault 11 ай бұрын
I hope that after spending so much, your car is in good order now and may not require so much on a regular basis. Please drive the car, as keeping them exercised will help keep everything going. Many problems arise when they sit idle.

Great video. So true to my own experience of my Silver Cloud 3, Silver Shadow 1, Turbo R and Azure. There is always one or two of them in the garage shop for service/maintenance/upgrade/repair but that still leaves me with a choice of great cars to drive. And they give more driving pleasure than pretty much anything else...
