Thanks for sharing your account of what happened. I was 10 years old when that took place . Skynyrd is one of the greatest! So sorry for the loss of lives. Untimely death for Ronnie and everyone else who lost their lives . Great footage and explanation of what happened. Thanks

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video Lynard Skynard band 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on KZfaq. 😀

I still remember hearing about the crash but hadn’t discovered their story until recently. Yes, I knew some of their music when they were playing all over but had issues going on. Now I feel like I missed something huge and am so sad that I didn’t know of them when they were alive. I love the stories of the way the band developed, how they grew up together, about the Hell House years-amazing. Love the music and the legend of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Magic brother. Glad you survived. It’s amazing that anyone survived that plane crash after seeing your video. I grew up listening to Skynard. Finally got to see them in Wisconsin after the older family members died. Johnny Van Zant canceled the show but came back for the fans. Amazing show played all the songs that I grew up listening to. Amazing timeless band for anyone especially someone who grew up in the south. First time heard Skynard was on a mono record player in my parents house in Ormond Beach Florida. Been listening ever since. Tuesdays gone always brings tears to my eyes I can remember listening to streets of fire during hurricane David and being so young but feeling safe because that album put me at ease .

Thank you for your story sir, loss of life is always tragic, Ronnie was an amazing singer, my condolences to all crew members and the captains. Also tragic but part of me is thankful the Gains went out together. When asked the question, you or your wife, I always say my wife, not because i want to lose her or her be gone, but I don't want her to suffer my loss.

Thanks for your story. I’m so glad you mentioned that this is your story and everyone else has their own versions of what happened to them and how they remember it. I believe your story. Others have their own memories and I don’t discount theirs either. I can’t imagine what a traumatic experience it was for everyone involved. I’m glad you made it out alive. I have 2 friends that went to an autograph signing at the Altamonte Springs Mall and have all of the band members autographs.

I didn't know the history of Lynyrd Skynyrd until I got a dvd at a local pawn shop that I bought because it had sweet home Alabama. It turned out to be the Lynyrd Skynyrd movie&I learned some rock-n-roll history. I loved it,but felt sad to learn about the plane crash, ect. I had more respect for their music&the original band members&always will!

I met this man in a small town in Tennessee he owned a small bar back in the early nineties. . Used to love to listen to him tell stories about his life And things he had done throughout his life. He was probably one of the most interesting people for a 21 year old young man that had never been out of the state of Tennessee to meet. His stories were fascinating for me the 21 year old. Thank you Mark Howard.

FYI, that model is a DC-3 not Skynyrd's Convair 220. The Convair 55VM was not a tail dragger but had tricycle gear and the nose is significantly longer. just sayin

Great video Mark. I love the backstory of these events. Keep them coming and your channel will grow. I worked sound in Ft. Worth, TX, in the 70's. Mostly on stage monitor mix. I'm sure I've run across some of the same people that you did. One of my favorites was CHARLIE DANIELS. I worked two of his shows about 1 year apart. Having a conversation with him after sound check we just chatted for about ten minutes. On to the second show.... he remembered me and invited me backstage for a meal that was spread out for the band. We talked again and he treated me like a long lost friend. He was a very nice man and a pleasure to do monitor mix for.
