Thank you! We're so pleased with it it's one of our favourite things we have done! Really adds some character and charm to the room and house. The sealant was just a regular interior brick sealant from B + Q, helps to stop marks and dust etc and gives it a nice little shine. We have also done the same to our master room which we are still yet to finish, but all in good time! :)

Reading lots of conflicting advice online - would you recommend painting the walls before/after as know kicks up a lot of dust but then you don't want paint dripping on your new floors. See you guys sort of combined the two and sanded before painting and then varnished after?

I think you went against your own advice with the fireplaces. Without being re-pointed and having the damaged bricks replaced they look awful. That was a lot of work to achieve a poor, cold-looking finish that probably will only appeal to you. Great job on the floors and decorating.

I would say it took Codi 2-3 days I can't quite remember but he was also having to learn along the way reading blogs and trying to find other peoples videos - so at least you're at an advantage having this video to hand! Do you need to fill the gaps between the boards?
@Pursuitofhealthwealthhappiness
@Pursuitofhealthwealthhappiness Жыл бұрын
Hey there! It totally depends how big the gaps are - in the living room we didn’t have big gaps so we didn’t bother filling it in, but in the dining room there were slightly larger gaps where we thought cold air, slugs and bugs would come in through so we filled some with some filler we bought from b and Q before staining the floor. Some of it fell completely through so another suggestion would be to stuff it with something if you can! Are you thinking of doing this to your house? Thanks for watching!

The ikea stal shoe cupboard is only 15 cms deep so neat and they come in different heights and widths. You should absolutely remove the lining paper, it looks as though the plaster has blown and it needs repairing. We’ve renovated Victorian and Edwardian homes. You absolutely need to change the vestibule tiles.

@@katbar6066 it’s technically in a different room behind a different door. Chances are the door will be closed. If you think back in the day the vestibule would have been tile and the hallway something else or a different but more matching pattern. But it’s hard to tell color from the video. There is also the fact the floor is slightly raised or lowered there. It would be weird to have a threshold if the tiles were identical. Not that weird.

Also defdo add some sturdy trellis to the top to make the height up to 6 ft. You cud also put some fake greenery on the trellis too that way winter or summer they stay the same and they do not die 😂 it would look amazing xx
