Whatever this thing is, I'm crazy about it. I've loved it since I was little and I've always wanted to buy one.

I've just picked up a Zyto lathe which is pretty much identical. Mine is in fairly reasonable working condition so I'm doing a bit of a rolling restoration. I've just replaced the original tool holder with a modern quick change type which has made a big improvement. I got one of the super cheap ones from eBay but it seems to work ok so far. If you do the same you'll need a 2.75" 3/8 whitworth bolt to replace the original stud Your video has been very useful, good work 👍

Just looking again, it looks like your tool post has been modified with a piece of leadscrew which is probably much more rigid than the original 3/8 stud.

great video` I have a Morso F that's been garage stored for five years. its a 39 year old machine which was in perfect condition but now even though covered.., has a fine rust layer on the exposed parts. This has given me the push to strip it and bring it back to the condition it deserves to be in and inspire me to use it. They are a masterpiece of design.

Hi, what is the chemical used at 8:30 to darkn the metal pieces? Does that inhibit rust? Thanks!
@MatthewMoustache
@MatthewMoustache Ай бұрын
It's called gun blue, it creates oxidation layer on metal and after oiling it's protected against rust

Niewiele tej restauracji, wszystko na pokaz byle ktoś oglądał. Po co te dziwne narzędzia typu przedwojenny klucz nastawny, albo krótki wkrętak? I w dodatku kto polewa odrdzewiaczem łeb śruby? Smaruje się gwint, a nie łeb. Za to like nie dostaniesz ode mnie.
