Jamaica is hilly and Gully Gully and looking at the land of how some of these houses are built there wasn't a plan,so the layout of where these people build their houses is not adequate to the land layout. They seem to build their houses at a lower level so obviously gravity will naturally play its part when it rains.

EM first let me say i love your hat i am asking one question WHY WHY WHY are the citizens of St.Thomas pleading and begging the government the elected officials so much for help??? This is disgraceful and the world is watching no one have control of nature the citizens are willing to work together to clear and clean up their roads etc and what are the representatives doing NOTHING the man in the red front shirt should listen to the people and bring them help ASAP. Thank you EM for putting all of this out the people must know what to do WHEN THE RIGHT TIME COME. Stay safe watching from the US 🇺🇸

No one have control of Mother Nature but ppl have a responsibility to choose where to build and live and the authority will respond but what it will cost for temporary relief but I will cost a lot to really rectify a bet you that it’s the pnp put them their to capture

Many years ago there was a program for river training. This would make sure that rivers kept the original route. Groins (as we call it) or Casian Basket would be repaired or added as necessary. The simple act of planting shrubs, grass and other vegetation would be used to retain soil but over time the process became too costly and now this is the result. I see a big problem, not just with this river but many more in the country. And then there is the problem where people are forced to put houses in areas where there should not be, so when there is a break away, someone is going to get caught in the middle. So how do we fix this complex problem?

The main reason they would use you guys to push their agenda is because you guys get lots of views from local people more than they could get in person face-to-face
@pinncok33444 күн бұрын
One of the main things that you guys must keep in mind it is not any particular party that is fixed in the road that is the government the government of Jamaica borrow money from China and it just came time for the project to be put in place originally it was supposed to be on highway from Kingston straight to Portland a real highway they took away after money and that's why they're only upgraded the local roads so it is not labor or PNP that is fixing the road it is a Jamaican government program on Chinese money I don't think you guys do a good job explaining that to people when you make blog videos you are people believing that it is the labor government that is fixing all these roads it is not the same way it was not PNP when I highway 2000

Cannot imagine a tree posing such a danger to your property & community, and you do nothing about it - and then it takes J$5K to remove it AFTER the foreseen damage is done, simply because we are waiting on a politician to address the issue. Evidently, mining the sand would have helped....but then too, across the length & breadth of Jamaica, people build where they feel to, including on the banks of a river which they know is uncontrollable when it rains....and usually, it is the children of slaves keep making this kind of mistake. If the authorities affirm that the area is not for residential purposes, that would be another outcry. We need to make better decisions. We are nearly 200 years post the end of slavery 1838, in JA. What is wrong with us!

People should not have to be begging so hard for help, water 🚿 and fire 🔥 if deadly, people life is important, the government need to see to their wellbeing, no one have control over nature. Help the people you are elected to serve. Thanks Eastside media for sharing, blessings 👏🏽💕

Too many people with degrees, but no knowledge are leading the various state agencies in Jamaica. The people with the lived experiences are the best source of knowledge when designing and implementing infrastructural projects across the island. Far too often, the ordinary citizens offer advice/information to the technocrats, but are ignored as they are not seen as "qualified". In most cases, the problems that citizens foresee happening and highlight them, but are ignored usually manifest themselves. It's time to start listening to the citizens.
@rhf4574 күн бұрын
I understand their plight, but the underlying problem is they live too near the river and nature is difficult to control Saying the mayor don't look concerned beg to ask if it prefer to pretend like he do?

Thanks to this man for the explanation. Have no clue what that lady was saying 🤷♀️ but believe her. And big ups to the volunteer. Ask fi what yuh want yes. Politicians are Jamaica’s biggest problem. And for those talking about voting, whether the ppl vote or not, this is the result. New politicians, old ones, JLP, PNP, same story. That last road is always like that with flooding - like forever
@lennoxbrown39762 күн бұрын
You know nothing about Jamaica all you do is chat off emotions everything to do cost money and the only way government can respond effectively to the same citizens is to grow the economy and also ppl go and build anywhere and when told not to build there you hear how government a fight poor ppl certain place is not suitable for human habitation to fix that issue will cost a huge sum to fix it

Jamaican coffee is ranked high amongst the best in the world, and as such, every effort must be made to ensure that the brand stays on the market.
