There are many unscrupulous Mindfulness teachers in Bhuddism, and now also within Christianity. I saw a sign here in Cambridge advertising "Modern Mindfulness" classes. It probably does not even resemble the original teachings from their ancients, probably not retaining any originality, the same as "Yoga" today does not resemble the ancient or even the way that Ghandi practiced it.

I can understand the point of view of the Rabbi regarding the nam of God in the OT, but there are many other interpretations and most Bibles have removed the name of God in all but 3or 4 of the over 750 places that His personal name appears in the OT, and Yahweh does appear about 250 times in the NT and was spoken by Jesus and His Apostles. God left an example of what constituted abuse of His name in the wilderness. A teenage boy was put to death directly at His command. God can read/hearts. What is in the heart and would not have had him put to death unless He determined that the abuse of His name was intentional and competently acted out. The boy's father was not Jewish but had been expected to teach the boy the same respect for God as he himself had. The boy was not put to death for simply uttering His personal name. It was as Jesus said that it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man but what proceeds out of it, because out of the heart the abundance of the mouth speaks, and wicked reasonings come out of the heart. That is also why Jesus said Isaiah had been correct in writing that the people were honoring God with their lips but their heart was far removed from Him. At various times the OT prophets also wrote when God was angry with them that it was they who were causing the people of the nations who did not know God, to blaspheme Him, because the Israelites were painting a picture of Him, that made Him an object of something to disrespect. When God wiped out the entire family of Jeroboam. God designated just one son from that family would be worthy of a decent burial, and God said this was because He had found "something" in his heart that was "good" towards Him. The way that some Jewish people go on today is to discourage people from even thinking about Him, and that is a disgusting distraction, even leaving some people vulnerable to demon influence. So they should not complain when it is the will of God to turn it all back on them.

Many Scientists are also Atheists and would not attend a conference of Fr Rhor a Franciscan Priest. People need to be more careful in their assessment of human achievement. Science in general does not credit The True God for their knowledge.

Beautiful! Yes: "The body is the place of truth" It is incredibly often left out in so called common spirituality. What a paradox, when everything is one. Perhaps a left over from old ages and also an expression of the hugest bypass. It is also often terribly disregarded in psychotherapy. I always said: "What my body does not understand, I do not understand." and "My body is the most reliable, loving, truthful friend I could ever imagine of." A spirituality, that does not radically include the body to me is not spirituality at all. Thanks!

So true Adyashanti!! I am 78 years old and after 4 months of anxiety and fear, after being locked in my house and garden because of corona, (and I didn’t notice what this did to me) I know now that áll the answers are in the body. Can’t read or watch movies or anything outside anymore.

The Bible is a compendium of folk tales and fables recounted orally for generations by primitive tribes from the stone age. This is the Old Testament. The new Testes is hearsay since these gospels were written by the faithful not by objective historians at that particular time. There are no gods! ======== onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/cogs.12138 Keep the Lies about gods away from children! Forcing religion onto minors is essentially a form of child abuse, which scars their ability to reason and also limits their ability to consider the world in an unbiased manner. ''...exposure to religious ideas has a powerful impact on children's differentiation between reality and fiction, not just for religious stories but also for fantastical stories.''

I’m watching this video for the first time. I may be very wrong but, I’ve been following Richard for several weeks now & my realisation & attitude have changed. I do not judge people at first encounter. I respect every person that I meet but I then let them lose my respect as time goes on. Sometimes years pass. I always look at a person & listen, watch. I’ve worked on my own self for almost 20 years. I’ve had to change everything. I lost every friend. My Wife’s friends. My own self respect. I hated myself. I got my Faith back. I love people. I love who I am. I’m now a Special Minister at our Catholic Church here in Western Australia. I have my self esteem back. I love people. I had to change myself. I fall over. I get back up & work on myself. When my Wife of 51 years & I go to bed at night we ALWAYS say goodnight Darling. And I Love you before we go to sleep. It’s a constant presence in me. Father Richard is helping me every day without even knowing it. I’m not smart. I’m not special. I’m just a normal bloke who found himself & changed because he wanted to. Thank you Father Richard & others. I’ve always had God by my side. He has saved my life many times during times of war (Vietnam) & times of despair. Neville J.

This is who were are as human beings. So cultural ideas and pratices cause take offramps to our path in life. To now begin the cosmic Christ is a new chapter in my long life. This is now a good journey for me because I no longer believe I am neither cursed by God for being gay. I am who I am. AMEN.

OK. A Kentucky recluse told Fr. Rohr, "Richard, God is not up there. He's in here." Presumably, he was pointing to himself. But most of us haven't had this lived experience of the Indwelling, so we keep thinking of God as other. I don't know what to think of all that. What I know is that years ago, I heard a woman speaking behind me and saying, "David, you're so funny." I turned around to look, and no one was there. I was completely alone. A month or two later, I heard a man, with powerful authority, ask me, "Ready to give it up?" Again, I saw no one there and I was alone. That one scared me, because I knew I didn't really want to give up my will; yet that was the voice of Someone you did not want to be angry with you.
@cherylmburton5577
@cherylmburton5577 2 жыл бұрын
He said "God is not up/out there." This is certainly not something new for him to have said. Possibly the recluse was telling Richard in his own way that he had a profound Mystical experience with him right where he was.

Me too. I'm 72 and periodically did. Yoga and Meditation then couple years ago did a series of mindfulness classes and I threw myself vigorously back into meditation as I had learned years before. I didn't stop this time. After my 'hectic and contentious'' period was past I told myself that I would take advice and continue with the practice for the next time I ran into...ah... a socially incongruent circumstance? Ever since the war nothing has gone my way. My brother says it's my demeanor. So. First...oh i'feel silly and what I describe will seem like lies to me afterwards. First I had popcorn popping like in a stove shaken pot of popcorn. In my skull. Imagine that? Anyway I had found two significant sources about the kundalini event but still like a forgotten dream, I knew it happened but I could easily ignore that crazy stuff was happening. I'm really glad I found adyashanti. Gopi Krishna's book he says the same about what happened he could just brush off. For a while anyway. At least I'm not suffering senile dementia. I was puzzled at times what was happening because I didn't have a cobra slithering up my spine. I DID find a possible helper who can help with my ego crash. I was totally freaked over that and couldn't explain it until reading of it here. Much of my world went on vacation it seems. Let's all just move right along and as first teacher said its intelligent and once awakened it must rise. So.....all in for adventure.

How are you now, my man? Kundalini is a true game changer. I am 5 years into mine, which was activated some 7 years after my first major awakening. I find it hard as hell and equally rewarding.
