I always wanted a bike with a high gear ratio, such that one pedal revolution = 5 wheel revolutions or something. I know ya’ll nerds be like “it’ll take more power to run it though”, and I’m aware of that thank you very much. But if there’s a wide range of gear ratios in a bike shop, I’d go with the one that fits my muscles while also getting me miles in under minutes.

А зачем все эти пляски со сварочником? Я на шоссейнике со стоковой трансмиссией разгонялся до 55-58 км/ч. И для максимальной скорости куда важнее собственная физическая подготовка, а не передаточное число трансмиссии.

Nice job. So if I understand correctly, this bike is only good for level travel over long distances. If so, fine - good.

Huge gear ratio is not a key to high speeds. Getting lock pedals and learning to pedal fast while still putting some torque on it. It's impossible to reach high powers with low pedal rpm. I'm not competitive cyclist, but when I was still in a shape, I could reach 80km/h on a flat road using cyclocross bike and slick road tires. I could drive 40km/h on quite steep uphill, which I liked to do to get my heart rate up. Cyclocross bike have shorter gear ratios than road bikes.

one to two reduction three times is eight to one from the pedal to the rear wheel 🤔 you gotta put a lot of torque at the pedal to get that moving. but, once moving, that thing will put out some gnarly velocity 💪😎👍
