I watched Swingers for the first time recently. I really loved it. The way it's made gives it a very unique quality. I had also recently been rejected by a woman, so it was very appropriate timing, and really made me not feel alone. It holds up very well in 2024.

fantastic movie but hated the netflix show. don't care if it's the same director it doesn't feel like it at all and all the chemistry was lost with the way the audio was recorded separately from each other actor imo

The alien is not a villain, it has no motive and is not malicious it's an animal of instinct to survive and reproduce it cannot be reasoned with or persuaded which makes it more terrifying

I remember being quite disturbed about the whole premise of this movie, & thinking how in the future, this could actually happen. Fast forward to present-day Washington DC, & the illegitimate resident illegally occupying the Oval Office. It's all a pantomime. "All the world is a stage..." ~William Shakespeare

alien was the scariest movie for me as a kid but now when I watch it, it looks a little bit like a man in a costume, the creature in the sequel looked better

Yamaha makes a powered coaxial speaker called NSIC800 that I've seen on Amazon for 269 each, and I thought that might make a good similar project.

Mattson and Musk are very different. Mattson is insincere and power-hungry. Without question Musk comes across as someone quite sincere about what he wants to do...

The thing I most liked about Cloverfield was that your main characters weren't the heroes. They were just your average people going through an event trying to survive.

Fantastic video. Mad Men is one of my very favourite shows, though I only got around to my first full rewatch last year it was one of VERY few shows to not only live up to my memory but improve with age. Seems obvious in hindsight, but I never really thought about what a constant environment the elevator is in the show, and how well it's used - even though several of my favourite scenes take place in one. I look forward to appreciating it more during my inevitable future rewatches.

Most superhero fans are not super into the latest marvel stuff. Vought Didn't create the super villains. That was homelander acting on his own. Probably mostly due to boredom meaning Just wanted someone more challenging to fight. They also didn't send him to laser down the plane. That was also him acting on his own.

I don't think Syndrome is intelligent. Super smart in making exceptional tech? Yes. That's not intelligence by itself. His big ego is preventing him from it.

This movie, is just, one if my favorite films of all time. It was my ultimate ‘breakup’ movie. If I got out of relationship, I was down for a bit, you popped this dvd in, you went for some drinks with your bros, and man. You’re so money baby, you just don’t even know it! I’m 84.7% sure I met my wife at a bar, days or weeks after watching this for the 20th time. Been married for 15 years, 2 beautiful kids, we still can’t swing dance but we’ve tried haha…

The term “ Vegas baby” has been coined as a cultural icon. Everyone everywhere shouts these 2 words anytime anyone is headed too the strip. Great screenplay and one of my all time fav movie. I was 22 living in Tucson when this movie dropped. It changed my life. After this movie dropped every after party in Tucson always had the Ratpack playing in the background. We showed up at these parties in suit and tied because it was “Money” thank you Jon.

I think this is the wrong read of how the movie treats Syndrome. It’s not that the movie is saying that Buddy wasn’t super-it shows us that he obviously was; it was, instead, Mr. Incredible who was *wrong* to dismiss him. However, although special, Syndrome is never a hero. Indeed, he becomes a villain-not because of any in-born deficiency, but because of how he responds to the circumstances in his life.

Reminds me of Halloween (1978). Yeah, we see Michael kill his sister at the beginning, but practically nothing “happens” until the last thirty minutes of the movie. But that’s what makes the kills so special; we got so much buildup of not just learning who the characters are, but us knowing that Michael is just around the corner and could pop out at any moment. The keyword is “BUILDUP”.
