The last time I wild camped in wales a couple of years ago on top of Y Garn in winter, overlooking Ogwen and Tryfan, it was stunning…. but…. not a patch on the Lake District….. just sayin’… Haystacks looking over Buttermere - it even sounds nicer just saying it… 😂😂😂 Nice one mate 👍✌️

Tbh Mike, it's somewhere I'm very keen to go riding when time permits , I've been looking at maybe riding the GNT back home and I think the lake district sections are covered in that, somewhere I'll definitely be doing my best to go . In winter that must have been a chilly experience . I froze in April on the great western trail 😂

@@myktmadventures well I defo didn’t do Y Garn in my mankini, walking up there had a right dab on. It was covered in snow on the summit but me and the dog were toasty. Only thing that spoilt it was all the twats lower down in their new white trainers dropping their crap everywhere looking like they were off to a nightclub. I’m torn between doing the trans northern trail or maybe just the the mainland part of the ACT - so I think that’s Llandovery up to Lancashire then C2C across to Yorkshire ending up in Whitby. But I defo wanna ride in Cumbria, not done anything in the NW. I put a Motoz Rallz on back of my 890R...............took it off and sold it quickly. Worthless and really irritating on even a short piece of paved road. Howling/vibrating/buzzing wandering here and there while stopping. KZfaq reviews said it was GREAT! No problem on road even though its a knobby. Beware of tire reviews. No knobby lasts on road unfortunately.

Quite a few of the TRF lads I ride with use the 360s and rate them. I might try some Kendas next, seem to be good value. For value and general performance you can’t beat Trackers but I don’t think they are so good on wet rocks and roots which you probably get more of than me.
@myktmadventures3 ай бұрын
Heard quite a bit about the trackers, not tried them myself but have been told they don't last too well on the 690/701 but as I said in the vid , for local riding etc I'd still rather have good grip than have something that lasts 2000 miles but is rubbish riding in the mud locally . I don't know . What are the kenda's Mike, not heard much about those ?
@24rare3 ай бұрын
I’ve had a 701 for around 15 months. Like you the tarmac is as little as possible and just to get to and from tracks. Changed the tck 80’s after 1500 km ish. Great on road terrible in mud ok in dry conditions. I changed to Michelin trackers €140 for a pair maybe €10 delivery. After the tck80’s they feel fine on slow tarmac (wear down fast on tarmac!) and really good on off road tracks. I did around 2500/3000 km on a set the back was probably done after 1500 km but as it was bone dry summer in France I got away with it for another 1500 km. I changed the front as well but only because it was going into winter - and they’re cheap €60. I’ve kept the front and will reverse it and use again in dryer summer conditions. I’ll probably just keep using Trackers I don’t have experience with anything else! I’m going to do a long ish TET trip probably mid October. Across Pyrenees into Spain and as far down as I can get before time runs out and I need to turn around and come home. I’m not sure but I’m hoping to go for two to three weeks. Maybe 3000 km. And I’m not sure what tires to use. I could reverse the front tracker in a garage somewhere on the trip and I’m sure that would make it. But I don’t thing the rear would make it all the way back. Any suggestions ?
@myktmadventures3 ай бұрын
From memory I struggled with the TKC 80 in the mud too, albeit on my 1090 which was much more of a lump. I've not tried the trackers but I know a couple f the lads have run them and pretty much same as you , good in the dirt but wear very quickly due to the road sections in between. I think the best lasting tyre I've used on the 690 would be the tractionator desert ht due to its bias towards harder terrain, I think mine did about 2000 miles some local and 1000 miles on the great western trail. I think but may be wrong that the adv spec stopped stocking them last time I looked
@24rare3 ай бұрын
I might give them a try. Found them over here for €200 a pair which is €50 more that the trackers. But if I can get a whole trip out of them instead of trying to change the trackers on the trip that’s got to be worth it. Plus I guess other than the Pyrenees crossings the Spain sections should be dry hard tracks. So should correspond well. Thanks.

Great vlog, thanks. My mate has a 690 similar age to yours by the looks of it. He's fitted a tower and changed a few other bits, but hardly ridden it, and now he's thinking of getting a Kove 450. God knows why, I've told him he's got pound for pound the best trail bike going for what he wants and his ability, but like a lot of people it seems, they think bikes look best all shiny in their garage! We're meant to be doing a ride in a couple of weeks and I know he's gonna blow me out because it will be too wet for him, I'm gonna show him this tho, hopefully he'll see sense! Thanks mate
