I'm not super familiar with AZKi, is the "zero guess" part a reference to something? Or just part of her tagline?
@tangapple1361
@tangapple1361 14 күн бұрын
The zero guess thing is a reference to geoguessr, it's basically when you get a zero meter guess which she has gotten a lot of times. She's really really good at geoguessr and a lot of people(including me) really got in to her because of those geoguessr streams.

I was kind of surprised at this kind of attitude, is domestic tourism very popular in Japan? I can understand not wanting to move outside of thr country but having basic phrases or conversational skills in another language is always helpful. Je peux parler un peu de français y un poco de español, not a lot but enough of the basics to get by. I kind of wish I did more with it though. I always had a good linguistic capability throughout school, I just didn't do much with it...

also, if they play online games, they might have to interact with English or even on social media, comment sections are often mixed with many languages and commonly English.

Growing up with an analog clock in my room that you could hear the tick...tick...tick.. All the time is actually kinda comforting to me.. I love digital clocks don't get me wrong. But something about an analog clock is so soothing to me.

This is why the bilingual holomembers are so valuable tho. Kiara speaks 9 languages... and has been a bridge for her gen mates on outings and such. Calli as well. Having that skill set is incredibly useful.

Hey, can someone explain JP swear words to me? Because some clippers translate phrases really strongly (f*ing, hell, damn), some use censor words (freaking, heck, darn), and there doesn't seem to be much consistency. Which words are even the common swear words in Japanese?
@odlaldo
@odlaldo 21 күн бұрын
They don't really have a swear word, or more like it doesn't sound harsh like any other language. It's just TL's liberty.

So it depends on the translator and how they wish to convey the meaning, but simply put sometimes languages have multiple ways to express something, and sometimes there's only one. In this case for the Japanese word "Kuso" (くそ), it doesn't really have a direct 1:1 translation, but the closest thing to translate it to is either "f*ck, damn, or shit" When you pair it with the sentence Flare was making at 3:31, she mentions Omo short for Omoshiroi (面白い), which means funny/hilarious/interesting, etc..

After 10 years, a battery is BEYOND dead. They will leak and cause chemical hazard. DO NOT try to touch or even replace the batteries. The metal contacts on the clocks probably already corroded by the leaks. Safer to just replace the whole clock.

I assume she means high school or college level mathematics, which aren’t used very often outside of their related fields. For example, the average person is unlikely to have much of a need for trigonometry.

English is my first language, but I feel the same way about Japanese. I went to Japan all the time when younger, and my mom speaks it fluently, but I never bothered to learn it until recently even though I love Japan and Japanese media. It's a big regretty spaghetti that I didn't bother trying to pick it up earlier (as well as a few other languages I could converse in at a basic level when younger and just never used and forgot as I got older).

As someone who's half European and half Asian, the most convinicing argument I can make for studying English is that if you ever have kids, you can't guarantee that their kids will speak your own language. But you bet they'll speak fluent English whatever their first language may be.

Man, living the last 221 years all in Japan would be wild. From the Edo period, with samurai in power under the Tokugawa shogunate, to Commodore Perry arriving with his fleet, the Meiji Restoration, Imperial Japan, a lot of wars, then modernization and the economic bubble, until now. It’s been a couple crazy centuries there, way more wild than the last 200 years here in the US. I can’t imagine never leaving my own country, especially if it was as small as Japan. I leave the US every year at this point.

I have to say that this is a nice sentiment, but truly she is simply lucky. Some people may never have the chance to really travel or meet anyone who would be their friend. I know this because learning 3 languages hasn't found me any non-english speaking friends nor have I ever had the opportunity to leave the continent I live in.

To be fair, she doesn't really need English seeing as Irys speaks Japanese. If there was a language barrier there, they wouldn't have been able to make nearly as good of a friendship as they have.

Even as a continental European I _could_ technically get by without knowing any English - but learning it early opened up so many possibilities I would have otherwise missed out on. These days I use it more than my native language. Japan keeps more to itself, but even there you'll benefit a lot from it. Opens up so much more entertainment content, sources of information, communities, business opportunities, etc... Even just being able to put it on your resume will help you a lot.
