Oh stop the pretencoois crap everyone. Theres nothing to look further than whatsbin front of you, a dragon. He slayed an actual dragon. All aincent cultures knew of the dragon. Inca aztec temples are with the serpant dragon aincent china also. Archeologists found dragon fossils and from the 15th century latin drawings from the east of dragons fighting with tigers. Go look up your history people. Its not a coincidence all cultures knew of the dragon and its not symbolic, wake up people

Really nice video. As an (Eastern) Orthodox Christian, it is very familiar, and what is cool is that it goes on to this day. There are still Grace-filled, clairvoyant miracle working saints and hermits and whose relics are incorrupt.

I was on Lindisfarne last week. It's so quiet, virtually no motorised transport. Great place to visit, whether you're religious or secular.

Great video and hopefully more will be made to highlight these courageous saints. Good that you touched upon the dark forces as a more tangible idea. I read Swedenborg's teachings a lot, and the concept of evil spirits are as tangible, living creations and dealt with as such. Same as they were by Christ himself.

Greetings. I just found your channel, and congratulate you on your excellent video and presentation. I see that the world of St. Cuthbert is more real than I had previously thought. Thanks, and prayers from the beautiful Hudson Valley.

Love this. As a member of the Community of Aidan & Hilda, Cuthbert is one of the saints that inspires us. This film shows Cuthbert in his historical context, but is also contemporary. I will share this.

I had the good fortune of one day at Durham Cathedral, one day at a special exhibition of the Lindisfarne Gospels in a museum, and one day on the Holy Island. I'm most grateful for the tour of the remote island Cuthbert lived on -- I was so curious about it. I seem to have awakened an interest in early Christian art and stories, so thank you for feeding my hunger. I also appreciated your respectful demeanor and considerate treatment of the topic. I'm seeking out the C.S. Lewis and Chesterton titles you mentioned now. I wonder whether you got to visit the refurbished museum? They had some marvelous artifacts... and the carving in the church called "the Journey" really mesmerizes me. Thank you for this piece.

Thank you. That sounds like a wonderful trip. Which museum was that exactly, one in Durham or on Lindisfarne?

I think one of the reasons Peter Jackson was able to make such a great adaptation of the books was because he is a massive WW1 buff. He literally collects and flys ww1 era airplanes. I've always thought that LoTRs was obviously just a book about Tolkiens internal struggle during WW1. Being a teenage kid and being forced into a great and horrific war. Seeing those horrific things day after day and having to carry that horrible burden with you day after day. It was so completely unfair and you can see Frodo struggle with that exact thing. He watched his friends get killed day after day and probably thought he'd be killed too eventually. How do you continue on and find hope in that situation? Imagine the strength and will power it would take to keep that from corrupting you and turning you into a hateful and bitter monster like Smeagol or the ringwraiths. It's clear in the book that the thing that gave Tolkien the strength to continue was his friends and soldiers who helped remind him that there was truly goodness in the world and it was worth fighting for. He probably carried the trauma with him his whole life but he never let it turn him into a monster. Kind of like Frodos Morgol wound that never fully healed and always caused him pain and came very close to turning him into a wraith.

@@OliverMurrayYT Wow. I know I'm not supposed to covet my neighbor's house, but, in America, I do not live near any ancient medieval abbeys. Sad. Lol. Have you made a visit to Rievaulx abbey or read anything from Aelred? God's peace in Christ.

@@marcuswilliams7448 Afraid I haven’t ready anything directly, just the Paul Diemer book on Aelred’s life. Yes I’ve visited many times, there’s another former Cistercian abbey in the same hills. It was quite the place for monasteries.

@@OliverMurrayYT If you have interest in him, I recently found a 16 Part presentation by Dr. Marsha Dutton on the channel Schola Cistercians. His book Spiritual Friendship, as I understand, was one of his last books and is very good, given it also addresses a matter we are in deep need of addressing, that is, What is a good/spiritual friend? You'd probably like it.

St.George is indeed buried in Lod, but you lied! He's buried in ISRAEL🇮🇱 not in Palestine.. There's no such country as Palestine, never was.... The territory was called Palestine, because Romans conquered and destroyed Israel, as colonizers! They renamed Judea to Palestina.Stole our land, destroyed our Temple, tried to erase our history. So how is St.George buried in Palestine??? 🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱

I suspect that the story of St. George is Christianity borrowing from older stories that pre-date Christianity. I also suspect that the dragon is symbolic of something else and not actually a dragon.
