What can I do to get rid of unwanted texture on the backside of my petals? Get a smoother foam? I just tried with some leftover flooring insulation foam sheets here but nope. Not working. Too much texture on the outside, need to think of something else.

Yes, you can bake it in your home oven 😊 polymer clay is non-toxic and bakes at low temps of around only 130 degrees c 😊

@@myclayco is this the same technique with the icing?
@myclayco23 сағат бұрын
@@need4speeed992this was done with liquid Sculpey which is a premixed liquid clay that comes in lots of colours. The cake icing is like a diy liquid clay that you make using a bit of normal polymerclay and Cernit magic mix (which is basically a clay softener) ☺️

I don’t if I’m just sanding a few pieces by hand, but if you are doing large amounts with a tool like a Dremel I would. It can get quite dusty!

Thanks so much. Do you have a gloss finish that you favour other than resin? Also I don't have the proper name but do you have a tutorial on the connecting (bales?) that hang the pendants onto the chain or thong? Sorry I'm new to the whole craft thing and don't know the names yet. I think there's a way of making them from the clay itself as well. 😀
@myclayco3 күн бұрын
We normally use Sculpey or Cernit gloss glaze if we’re not using resin and want a gloss finish. It will not be shiny and domed like resin though, it will just be a thin coat of gloss but we love it because it’s easy to apply and doesn’t go sticky! We will have to add a tutorial on using bales to our list! I don’t think I’ve seen them made out of polymer clay so will have to look into that! Thanks for the suggestion 😊

Thank you for all the good advice! I have a question about the thickness gages- when you move from the initial rolling the clay to the tile do you choose a thicker or thinner Guage when rolling over the texture mat on top of the clay and by how much? TY
@myclayco8 күн бұрын
Glad you’ve found it helpful! I normally start with 2mm ones, then put the texture on and go to 3mm. So thicker gauge second. Most texture mats I have are about 1mm-2mmish so I find this is enough to get a good imprint depth 😊

So after you bake it, then you paint. after you paint do you bake again or just let it dry? Then After the sealant do you let it dry or bake it? lol 😅
@Reynaaj8 күн бұрын
And what sand paper do you use?
@myclayco8 күн бұрын
So you can use paint before or after baking your clay. If you use paint after baking, I normally let it dry and then seal it. A lot of makers I know like to bake it again to “set it” so it won’t do any harm giving it a little rebake if you want to (I have had some brands of paint that do change colour very slightly when baked so just be aware of that 😊)
@myclayco8 күн бұрын
We don’t do much sanding, just normally a quick rub around the edges. We just use sandpaper from Bunnings and our preferred grit is 1200 because it’s very fine ☺️
