Well these are creative tools none the less. BTW you have a couple thousand dollars in those drawers 😳. I find candle making is easier than soap making but I’d love to get back to soap making. Also, you can create scented room sprays, red diffusers, and fragrance you own home made cleaners. For example, make a hard surface cleaner from liquid potassium soap, a little borax and add some lavender oil. If it doesn’t dissolve you can use dipropylene glycol to get the fragrance to mix.

Nice! Beautiful with the creamy center. ❤👍oh by the way, would love to hear a bit more specifically about your new career in teacher, the how, why and what’s about your journey. I think this topic would be a good way to drive more traffic to your channel sort of as a another layer to your offerings. Thanks for sharing.

Christine, this was a really helpful video, thank you. My parents were children in south Wales in WW2 and I think they must have feared running out of things as they always had spares in store. I am the same and was very tempted by the huge choice of molds but you have helped me to realise that I don't need more than I actually plan to make. Plus soap making will only be a hobby for me, not a business.

I know this is an old video but if you have good-smelling scents that people do not want in soap, make shower steamers. People do not soak in them and they are really popular.

Glad I looked for this video to see you cutting the purple clay soap. Mine are unscented, so no color change from fragrance, and I don't let the bars go through gel phase so they are close to white. The purple clay at 1 tbsp ppo barely made a color change. Oh well!!
@mountainhoods2 жыл бұрын
You used 4 tbsp of purple clay, how many pounds of oil? I have the same purple clay and the first time I used 1 tsp ppo, and the second time I used 1 tbsp ppo. Turned out pretty light too. Also, I mix my clay with the lye water first, then add all that to the oils.
@christinemontano6607 Жыл бұрын
Sorry I should have said. Four pounds of soap batch with 4 Tablespoons of clay. I do the ratio of 1 Tablespoon per pound of soap batch. Interesting that you putvthe clay with the lye water.

Do the fragrance oils stick to the body or are they just pleasurable when showering
@christinemontano6607 Жыл бұрын
The fragrance stays just a little while on the skin in my opinion. You can buy a base or a concentrate of skin safe body spray from a soap supply business and add 2% fragrance if you want to take a fragrance oil you like to put on the body for a more lasting scent.

This happened twice with my tallow soap. I'm heart broken because tallow is expensive and I used Brazilian clay and expensive organic oils... I don't know why this happens. Because my 3 other batches went great 🥺

I’m relatively new and because older just wanted to make soaps for us, family and friends, that was my plan.......ha I’m already thinking could I start a small business.......doubt I’ll get there but the thought keeps churning. In Aus we don’t from my experience have moulds that cheapLy, just as well because I’m a little like you not to that extent but like I said I’m new.so this has brought me up fast. I agree the rectangle is the preferred shape, it’s what we mainly see at markets, stores etc. I have the six floral type easy to use and I thought pretty and just bought two single owl moulds quite expensive , having seen on one of my favourite KZfaq channels, but that’s for my grandchildren. This is such good advice. I like the six individual rectangle mould for special soap I bought before I had a soap cutter. Now I have a single cutter and slab cutter the latter probably not necessary in my case, my splurge and taught me a big lesson to not order when tired. But I do have a few which are not practical bought from seeing someone using on KZfaq. I realise that the log for me works best. Thank you. I hope you do one on essential and fragrance oils. My initial intent was to not use any, but essential oil is so expensive I already have purchased a few fragrance oils too.

I am glad it helped. I do have a video on overbuying fragrance oils! Unfollowing Facebook fragrance oil groups and unfollowing soapmaking groups helped me stop buying. I also unsubscribed from seller emails. I made one small order of scent in all of 2021 for a custom preorder of soap and used it all, and jn that order just got one new scent to try. I have no time for this side hustle while working 70 hours a week teaching during year 3 of a pandemic…I have wound down my spending and making.

Great, honest video about me 😂 Thankfully I learned quick to make a standard bar with cool but simple to execute swirls. Visual 100% is the first reason a customer gains interest, then scents then reviews. Get those 3 in order and success is unavoidable.

the problem is that soaping stuff is only available online. You cant really know what you are buying and you end up buying stuff you either cant use or are dissatisfied with. that goes for everything from molds to fragrance. Sometimes the amount you have to buy is more than you want. I dont need a full pound of X. I just need a few ounces, but I have to buy a pound. Also, I just bought some molds from amazon - i only wanted one but had to buy 3.
@springcreekbathworks57382 жыл бұрын
You may want to see if you have people in your area thar can split an order with you. You are correct though and the oils can go rancid before use. If you have freezer or fridge room you can store them in there to prolong rancidity.

@springcreekbathworks57382 жыл бұрын
I rarely use 38%. I have experimented down to 14% but the thicker it is due to fast trace the harder it is to get into the little details. If use too much water it dents on removal. Using the freezer can help.
