Good video. I suggest learning a “dead man’s winch” technique. It has gotten me out of many situations like this and worse. Good to see you trip. I just did the divide trail in April. I skipped this section unfortunately because I was solo and knew I would get myself stuck haha enjoy the rest of your trip.

Thanks for the great comment. It’s nice to have people share their experiences. We were lucky with the maxtrax. A winch is on the wish list and I’d definitely get the ‘deadman’ bury bag to go with it.

what is the name of the beach? or, the place?
@stuckneverlostАй бұрын
The beach with the other overland vehicles is called El Puertito de Agua Verde. You can find it on Google maps. The beach with the diving pelicans was about 20 minutes north. Punta Aguja

Hey Guys great video it has inspired us to do the island part of the TCAT, however I'm having no success in getting any response from the guys at gravel travel. Do you have these GPS coordinates that I can get from you ? or know any way I can get them? Any help would be much appreciated . Cheers

Please don't attempt to take motorized vehicles on the green sections of the Trans Canada Trail This awesome green trail was built based on the promise of not disturbing the locals with motorized vehicles
@redsableart96983 жыл бұрын
You may be confusing the Trans Canada Adventure trail with the Trans Canada Trail. The trail you are talking about is for non-motorized travel. The trail we are ridding was specifically routed on existing roads for motorized vehicles. Much of the trail relies on logging roads.

Awesome, family riding adventures! Too bad about the fracture would have thought the boot would have prevented it
@stuckneverlost3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I am still surprised how many views our little family adventure garnered. That boot was strictly leather and while it would be good for road rash, it had no ability to prevent the crushing injury. It was just bad luck that my foot was squished between a very pointy rock and the bike frame. I am wearing Sidi goretex adventure boots now.

Nice video! That view point near the beginning at Nanaimo, is that a morning trip and return to Nanaimo early afternoon or plan for longer?
@stuckneverlost4 жыл бұрын
It's a short ride and quite enjoyable. You could easily do the whole ride in 3 1/2 hours including stopping at the memorial and viewpoint. Type "mount prevost" into google maps and drag the route over so it takes Mount Sicker road instead of Somenos road. The turnoff on Mount Sicker road is only 1/2 hour from downtown Nanaimo and the ride up the gravel trail is another hour or so. If you need to get back quicker, just take Mount Prevost road/ Somenos road back.

Great video. I’m headed out on a part of the TCAT next week. I love your idea of attaching the Nalgenes to the back of the pannier. I’ve been wrapping my head around how to get water down low. Last time I put a Nalgene inside my pannier, it opened and soaked everything. How do you have them actually attached. And what sort of straps?
@stuckneverlost5 жыл бұрын
Ben Radvanyi - it’s a bracket from Touratech that has 2 straps holding each bottle tight. We figured that on the back would be least likely to be banged up or broken. www.webike.in/sd/21317640

Thank you for creating such a well made video. Especially for using interesting music alternatives and not the stereotypical mariachi stuff. I've only explored northern baja by moto. Did you know about Laguna Hanson and decide to skip? It's a very interesting place and fun dirt road getting there. I want to do a full trip like yours but don't have friends that ride anymore. I guess I'll have to go solo.
@stuckneverlost5 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, I did not know about Laguna Hanson. After the fact, we keep seeing things that we would have liked to go. We had a general idea of where we were headed but really didn't plan very far ahead...more like wherever the wind blew us.

@stuckneverlost5 жыл бұрын
Agree! After this trip I insisted on getting some stabilization. Unfortunately for the next Mexico trip, the gimble broke the first week down there and once again we were stuck with some bumpy video. Next time I'll opt for a camera with built-in optical stabilization.

We did this trip in 4 weeks, but we did stay a whole week in Los Barriles and another 4 days in Loreto when the helmets got stolen. I'd say you need minimum 2 weeks to do it comfortably.

It took a year for that stupid foot to heal. Unfortunately during rehabilitation, I got nerve damage in both feet. It's been exactly two years - next week I get new x-rays, ultrasounds, an MRI and an orthopedic surgeon. Wish me luck!

Was there plenty of gas station and places to eat on the road? How many hours were you guys riding on a daily basis?
@stuckneverlost5 жыл бұрын
There was no issue with gas stations (well, almost no issue) While heading back up North from Coco's corner, we bypassed one gas station because Coco told us there was another one a little further. Turns out we had to wait 3 hours for it to open and Michael was on fumes. All the road side stands had totally edible food and we did not get sick even once. Riding time each day really varied quite a bit. We were almost always off the road by dusk...so that would be about 5-8 hours every day. One day we rode an hour and ended up staying at Playa Santispac.
