Month-long motorcycle trip taken in January, 2015. We rode adventure bikes so we could do a mix of highway and offroad. We also homeschooled our 10 year old son while on the road. Highlights of the trip were visits to various missions, A Gray Whale tour in Guerrero Negro, meeting Coco from Coco's Corner and riding the back route with dozens of water crossings between San Javier mission West to Highway 53.

Congrats on a great video! And also who selected the music?! It's not the usual guitar vomit most gringos think as "mexican". This is well thought music. Anyway, as you have a good time riding with the people you love, you also help promote our land without prejudice, and you get to see the real Baja and its people. You are always welcome!

Hi WildBaja, thanks for the compliment. I am really overwhelmed with all the great comments on this video! I picked the music for the video. I originally had it posted without music but I think it makes it a bit more enjoyable to have something to listen to besides motorcycle drone. If I had to do it again I would lower the volume of the music a tad where there are conversations. . I wanted something that matched the mood of the journey. My biggest worry was that the lyrics would be inappropriate. Since I am not a Spanish speaker, google-translating the song lyrics was a little tedious. It was pretty tough to find royalty-free stuff out there on the web, but I really liked how it turned out.

So what is the name of the song and band, playing that fun 60s rock style music? Spanish Rock one, where you turn around on that gnarly trail.

Baja is an absolute jewel. I hope things stay so screwed up in Mexico that it never gets developed. I love having as my back yard.

Thought this was great. Liked the choice of music, too. My friend just went to Baja from S.F. (my town too) about two days ago. After looking to see the weather down there..(perfect, with S.F. got in daily rains) it was time to hit youtube. Want you to know this looks great on a 27" monitor. Brings back my bike days in the 70's-80's. Much of which required no helmet...

Thank you for creating such a well made video. Especially for using interesting music alternatives and not the stereotypical mariachi stuff. I've only explored northern baja by moto. Did you know about Laguna Hanson and decide to skip? It's a very interesting place and fun dirt road getting there. I want to do a full trip like yours but don't have friends that ride anymore. I guess I'll have to go solo.

Hi Alex, I did not know about Laguna Hanson. After the fact, we keep seeing things that we would have liked to go. We had a general idea of where we were headed but really didn't plan very far ahead...more like wherever the wind blew us.

Hi Guillermo. I personally enjoyed the small villages and remote beaches the best. The ride up to the Observatory was incredible and Playa Santispac on Bahia Concepcion was one of my favorite beaches. We did tours of the old churches which was fascinating as most are still in use. I find that the people in the small non-touristy places seem friendlier and are not all about selling you trinkets. The further south you go, the more touristy it gets. The one touristy thing we DID enjoy was Gray Whale watching in Guerrero Negro. If we go again, I want to spend more time around Mulegé and visit the waterfalls in the mountains near Santiago (between Los Barriles and Cabo san Lucas)

How long did this ride/trip take you down and back to SD? Also how much time would you consider minimum amount (ie shorter stays at the hotel/resorts)? Thanks for the awesome video! Happy trails!
@stuckneverlost

We did this trip in 4 weeks, but we did stay a whole week in Los Barriles and another 4 days in Loreto when the helmets got stolen. I'd say you need minimum 2 weeks to do it comfortably.

I like this video, as it shows some accommodation details not shown elsewhere, and i think I will be staying at many of the same places. I just wish the editing could remove the music (or lower the volume considerably) so we can hear the motors and voices.

saw online a bike adventure to Baja. at the price they were asking, including the bike rental, you could have shipped your own bake to San Diego, stopped at all the luxury hotels down and back, then shipped your bike back home. the rate this adventure ride was asking started at $10,000. ripoff

Was there plenty of gas station and places to eat on the road? How many hours were you guys riding on a daily basis?
@stuckneverlost
@stuckneverlost 5 жыл бұрын
There was no issue with gas stations (well, almost no issue) While heading back up North from Coco's corner, we bypassed one gas station because Coco told us there was another one a little further. Turns out we had to wait 3 hours for it to open and Michael was on fumes. All the road side stands had totally edible food and we did not get sick even once. Riding time each day really varied quite a bit. We were almost always off the road by dusk...so that would be about 5-8 hours every day. One day we rode an hour and ended up staying at Playa Santispac.

Awesome trip and great video! Thanks for sharing; this video gave us more ideas for planning our own trip. At the end - where are the salt flats located?
@stuckneverlost
@stuckneverlost 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Asa J. Warren. The salt flats are 72 miles from the Calexico border crossing. If you take the main highway toward San Felipe (Federal Highway 5) they are on the left hand side. Look for a small road that heads straight into the flats. If you are looking on google maps, they are visible as a light coloured area just north of the gulf of Mexico.

Hello Thank you for your vidéo, we are 2,girls from Canada planning pretty much the same trip, we are great riders, we have a Little fear if wondering if just 2 girls it Will be safe. Any opinion on that. Nathalie

@stuckneverlost 6 жыл бұрын
No worries girls. We've done two trips to Mexico , both lasting more than a month. Baja is really great and we felt safe the entire time we were there. We actually prefer the slower laid-back pace of Baja over Mainland Mexico. We had a bit of stupid bad luck when our helmets were stolen in La Paz, but that was our fault. We perched them on the bikes in plain view - or course someone took advantage of the situation. So, my advice is to take any valuables and gear off the bikes OR lock them up when you are away from them. Try to find hotels that will allow you to park the bikes next to your room or in a secured compound. The hotel operators are pretty good about letting motorcyclists keep their bikes out of sight. Take an unlocked cell phone with you. You can get a sim card in the USA through carriers like Cricket mobile (AT&T) and simply add a Mexico data plan. It's really a lot cheaper than doing a plan through Telus, Rogers or Bell. That way you can look for accommodation and food while you're on the road. Buying insurance online before you go is quick and painless. There's lots of gas stations and ATM's down there but carry enough cash to buy fuel, road toll, food and hotel room. Some smaller towns don't have ATMs. I almost forgot - Bring a roll of toilet paper...lots of bathrooms don't have any! Visit Baja Bound for more tips on visiting Mexico www.bajabound.com/before/
