Help? Fan runs Backwards and blows the heat/cold from outside to inside my bathroom. I had the same vent fan light combo wired into my bathroom to replace the old single bulb. It is wired into the light switch, so when you turn on the light switch, light and fan come on at same time. Hope someone can help.
@Jonehughes
@Jonehughes Күн бұрын
Hi Jeffrey Since those fan motors cannot run backwards The only thing I can suggest is you have an obstruction Double check that the flapper opens all the way open and if not an obstruction there and then in the pipe there's no obstruction in the pipe either because something is pushing the air back and it's not the fan

Check the video at 5 minutes and 45 seconds and watch the flapper move

@@Jonehughes I went to bathroom with a ladder to check on the inside, but it is too high for me to get to it and check for obstructions, the outside, where the vent comes out is too far for me to see if it is blocked. It is about 11 feet high from ground level. I will see if I can get someone younger and able to walk and climb better than me. I appreciate the advice and help. ty

Would this work on a cast iron pan that's already benn set? Its currently leveled with wooden shims but I feel like those will eventually break. I haven't installed the shiwer ealls yet so I still have acces to the underneath the pan.

@Jonehughes 2 күн бұрын
Heck yeah that would be great Do the hardest to reach parts first and work your way around to the easiest You don't need to weigh it down if it's cast iron It already weighs a ton That'll solidify it completely Any foam besides minimal expansion

Thanks for the video. Did you back fill the shower drain access with concrete? Is it necessary?
@Jonehughes
@Jonehughes 3 күн бұрын
I never backfill that hole It usually is not accessed by any humans because it's so far away from where they stand If it turned out you had a center drain Then I would double check and triple check that my plumbing is correct and set in the right spot and then back fill it with dry pack mortar Because wherever humans step even though they have naked feet There still is 100 lb on each foot But whenl they're on the left side or the right side humans can't really step over the hole it's too close to the wall so there's no reason to fill it

What kinda foam did you use???? Window and door, large Crack foam, or regular foam ?????
@Jonehughes
@Jonehughes 4 күн бұрын
Don't use minimal expanding I used every single kind whatever I have available so I like big crack best but you can use anything It really doesn't matter they're all virtually the same but make sure you put tons of weight on it so it doesn't come out or up

Disagree, put nylog on the flare to brass dielectric male to female connection. If it can't leak at the seal it'll never leak on the back of the nut.

If you read the Nylog instructions it says it's made to put on both sides of the flare to seal it better.

Yeah I don't mind I don't have any leaks I put in seven of those in one day and never had a single leak but I hear so many people say that you shouldn't even use nylog 😂

Just got in on Ryobi deal at Home Depot because I was going to buy an 18 Ga nailgun for baseboards and you buy a pack with three batteries for 160 and can get the 190 nailgun (brushless) free. But damn this looks so nice to add for only 60 I’m going back tomorrow. lol. Good marketing strategy by Ryobi as I’ll probably grab several cordless tools now since I have the batteries.

Yeah the hardest thing is going to be mixing it up but if you don't mind working it for a while like I use a big giant drywall mud spinner but if you don't have something like that if you're going to do with a stick or something that'll be a little brutal but it should be fine and you only got to use a paintbrush you know get a big paint brush but you could be done in 5 minutes and the hardest part is going to be stirring it if you don't have a proper spinner like a drywall mud spinner

It is great to hear someone suggest barn screws with rubber washers. Just tighten until the rubber washer starts to seal. Nails will pop even sealant last 3-5yrs. then cracks. Screws do not in-screw and makes sense. The bottom half of any roof penetration has to be over the lower shingles. If not a leak will occur in 3-5 yrs. guaranteed. A lamp circuit will work but measure the amps your fan pulls. If soft vents are not clogged with spider webs, cotton-wood tree seeds and other, ampere will go up as they work harder. Use a roof vent with matching shingles can retrofit the roof. Just make sure the soffit vents are not clogged with too much insulation. Ceiling design makes it near impossible to reach, but with vent removed, use a curly dog steak welded to pole equipped with a handle to twist in and grab blocking installation and pull out. Save And place back in attic. Just writing out loud! Not a pro-roofer but someone who pays attention to air circulation in the attic to allow lower utility bills and lower attic temps that "Cook Shingles" from underneath! It makes a huge difference! Mechanically home owner. Great video, thanks by adding value to this subject that allows longer roof life & lower utilities. That is money gone, so reduce it by $50 per month during your hotter seasons puts $1,000 to $2,000 per year. But more fuel, better food, put money into savings account #2 for car repair or home appliances, medical or other emergencies. Life is full of those, so pay yourself first, then bills and maintain a healthy savings #1. No law against two savings accounts! Use it! Put $100 a month in savings #2, your have $1,200 dollars for tires, furnace repair, water softener failure, etc.

Thank you for making this simple! This is prob the 4th video I’ve watched on this, and all the others are using tools that would only be used by people who do this for a living. Obviously a weekend warrior is not going to have any of those tools, and is t going to spend the money to use them once. A simple 12 inch scrap of top rail with holes drilled in each end and a long screwdriver got the job done!

watching this in 2024 ... you dont need a rubber mallet any more. The recessed part of the wand is longer now, so easily fits into the previous wand. Also now they have plastic anchor straps you can attach to the wall to prevent them tipping. Nice sturdy shelving unit.
