These campgrounds have become the camping version of subdivision HOAs. I WOULD NEVER LIVE ANY PLACE WITH AN HOA. GUESS I WOULDN’T CAMP WITH THESE JACKASS CAMP RESORTS EITHER. WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A LIST OF THESE PLACES, SO WE CAN AVOID A WASTED TRIP & TRAVEL EXPENSES.

The rules have been adopted because too many people with older rigs show up and the engines are leaking oil and water tanks are leaking. If people don't take care of where they sleep, chances are they will leave a mess when they pull out.

I want to say the popularity of RV’ing is also impacting these rules. Any recreational activity in Florida now can be a nightmare, and finding a nice campground can be tough. Some businesses place a filtering process to not just let everyone and anyone.

What is needed is a weblisting. List "no restrictions," restrictions by year, pet restrictions, and so on. You could also divide by state. You could use a wiki, so that many people could enter info.

Unnecessary to name them, just access web sites for park regulations. Make reservations at permissive "friendly" sites and reward them with video word of mouth.

I encountered a significant issue that led me to stop using most of these facilities and enjoy the boondocking experience instead. However, for full-time RVers, that's not always possible. I understand that these RV sites were tired of dealing with the trashy attitudes of some RVers. They know that not all, but "most" of the troublemakers have old RVs, and the quickest approach was to filter clientele by the age of their RVs. We know it's a terrible approach, as I've met many extraordinary people driving old RVs and a few obnoxious people with newer $150k RVs acting worse than some who own $1M units. I believe one of the best solutions to this poor selection method would be to implement a nationwide RVer ID. With this ID, campsites could rate their clients and vice-versa on friendliness and how well the RV sites were maintained during the stay. This way, any campsite could accept or reject RVers based on ratings and reviews rather than the age of their unit. Maybe someone with the right knowledge and business acumen could develop this system and charge an affordable $20-$30 yearly fee to cover the costs of databases, website accounts, and services. It would be simple and fair for everyone.

I can see both sides of this dilemma. These rules are becoming common because of the investment made in upscale RV parks being ruined by a certain class of people. How have RV park owners figured out which class of people this is? How are they seeing the value of their park being diminished? The correlation they are making is very, very obvious. Just think of Cousin Eddy from National Lampoon's "Vacation" movies. Also look what happens to the pool on "Caddy Shack." The solution: Read park rules. See RV age limit. See age of your RV. Scratch chin and say "huh?" (optional). Book if your RV's age qualifies.

My buddy lives in an RV park. They have the same type of rules there. Im not gonna lie. I get it. I have seen RV parks that allow whatever. It isnt a pretty sight. Using year models is the easiest way to keep the junk out.

Homelessness has destroyed anything like what she is saying. It’s not monetizing, it’s to prevent homeless druggies from taking over what was meant to help RVers. All western states within the 9th circuit court jurisdiction have to allow homeless to camp everywhere public in a location if they cannot provide shelter for every homeless person in that location. And if they move into a campground they get tenancy rights in many western states. So it may take several months to move them
@reh01198 сағат бұрын
First, if the location identifies itself has a “resort”, I would never even consider going there, because I know I will not fit in. I despise the idea of anything exclusive. My wife and I are wealthy but we would never be comfortable around the part of humanity that is not happy if they can’t flaunt themselves, and show off. You’ve encountered the type of people that measure self worth by material things, not what is in the hearts and minds of anyone else.

We get turned down at RV resorts because we have a 2019 truck, with a 2022 Nucamp Cirrus 620 truck camper pulling an enclosed trailer. We pay the same nightly/monthly rate, so I don’t get it.

We choose to stay away from resort type campgrounds. We did turn in our 2019 20 ft camper for a 2015 model that was larger. We thought about this rule but decided that this purchase was what we needed. We are currently Hosting at national park and they had no trouble with the age of our rv. We purchased it in very good condition and work hard to keep it that way. We don't really like all the fuss at resorts. We are more simple folks with grown children. We can always spend our hard earned dollars elsewhere and not support those who discriminate. Great video!

Some of the "resorts" appear to be nothing more than parking lots with hookups. You can have it.

While I agree with you, I can't help but note that you only did this video after you were refused. Why not back when you were being denied initially, but rules were bent after you sent in a photo? How about those who's RVs are not perfect, they can be the nicest, most honest camping neighbors in the park.
@GratefulGlamper9 сағат бұрын
The rules were not bent with this campground at all - not even a photograph request in the scenario
@LRIGWAK7 сағат бұрын
That is my point. You said in the past you had received an exception. You did not do a video back then. So are you ok with not allowing " less pretty" RV's in a park? What happens when your current unit gets a ding or a fade spot that is not big deal to you, but will ensure that no park will allow an age exception? just find it sad how camping has changed, and wonder in the future what will be considered " fit" enough to be allowed to camp in a park? Seems that the camping fees would be enough to segregate the " rift-raft" from the "elitist" but I guess not. I have camped in top of the line to bottom of the line, but I have always been the same person.

Those rules have been in place since the 80s. So unless you joined the lifestyle in 76 or before this isn't changing a thing. Over spending and then trying to be the one person exempt it the issue. Should one family be able to play music loud a long time? Ignore dumping rules etc? There's a very real reason from oil leaks, tank issues etc. Insurances set rules people trying to bypass rules getting grounds in trouble is the problem.

I am currently converting a school bus to a RV, when I get done and travel with it I am going to do a video and a website that I plan on having a black list that I will post any campground or city that won't let you stay. So others don't have to book with them, or purchase any supplies in that community. Also I am going to sue them for discrimination.

There has never been a homogenous, inclusive RV community. Therr has always been a class system Campgrounds are making rules to try to avoid trouble. The same kind of people are getting into RV'ing and ruining it as the people who got into liveaboard boating and ruined it. It only takes a few irresponsible undesirables to ruin it for everyone else.

I had an older friend back in the 80's that had a restored airstream and belonged to some kind of airstream club. It seemed like having the oldest well kept or restored airstream was like having bragging rights in that club. Some of them even had restored 1950's cars and trucks that they pulled them with. I thought it was cool as hell.
