I had this surgery and fully recovered from it, but most of the pain I had prior to the surgery was in the lower scapula area. The surgery didn't seem to address it at all. For me, the surgery felt kind of pointless. Still have the same pain and new pain that was never there before. So my suggestion would be to avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

My left shoulder was a mess. I had an ATV accident on Easter Sunday 2024. I tore all the tendons except the teres minor on the back of the shoulder. I had surgery on 4/23/2024 and I'm two weeks out from that. I knew I had to get it fixed quickly because the moment I tried to get up from the accident I could not use my arm at all. It was like a wet noodle. I have2 more weeks in the sling and I'm counting the days because of the lack of sleep with it on at night. My body also likes to sleep on it's left side so I have been averaging 3-4 hours of sleep a night. I hope that everyone that goes thru this finds peace with the pain you will endure and the knowledge that your arm is needed to do so many things we take for granted. Peace be with you and a speedy recovery from this surgery

My wife suffered a left mid-humeral fracture from a fall while in recovery from a complete shoulder replacement performed at Texas Orthopedic Hosp. We returned to TOH and they removed all implanted appliances and the top 2/3 of her humerus. Her shoulder and her arm were debrided, and we were sent home with 4 weeks of IV antibiotic infusions. Shortly afterward, the end of her humerus pushed out through the incision. and got reinfected. Back to TOH for another debridement, but before surgery, her colon ruptured and she was rushed to Houston Methodist for an emergency ostomy. Four weeks later we went back to TOH and they debrided her again (including a series of events that almost led to security ejecting me from the hospital). She then had 6 more weeks of infusions then 4 weeks of wound care which has not been successful. The surgeon at TOH is now considering this procedure and is referring us to a specialist's specialist. My wife is very tired of all of this.

This looks pretty involved and uncomfortable. I have an 8mm full-thickness tear on my right supraspinatus and a separation of the bicep tendon. I am thinking of doing a PRP injection instead of surgery which takes 6-12 months for full recovery. Hope it is the right option!🤞

I’m having surgery done on Tuesday. I have had many abdominal surgery that is no biggie. This however is different because its my dominant arm. I know its gonna be painful and I’m gonna get thru it. I have to keep telling myself the pain is temporary and then I will be better. I have to tell myself this because surgery pain is temporary non-surgical pain will get progressively worse. Having said that, I still am a bit freaked out lol

@@SaintsWife924 so sorry Im just seeing this. I had a SLAP done and bicep repair. It’s been 4 months and have finished pt. I can say that my should is about 90% recovered. HOWEVER, something else came to light in the recovery process. I had some pain that would just not go away and then the left side began to hurt and weaken as well. Thankfully the YT algorithm was eavesdropping and pulled up a video that described exactly what I had been feeling. I have rediculopathy (nerve pain, going into my arms) in my neck. I had an MRI done and confirmed 2 bulging discs. I have an appt on Thursday and Im praying that some injections will work. I tried going into this with a positive attitude and can say it’s been hard. I didn’t expect the depression BUT that a being said if I didn’t have the other issue the shoulder surgery went well and just building strength. I hope you are doing well.

I think I know the exact way for you to get rid of your shoulder pain, it's not my technique, it was created and researched by a board certified orthopedic surgeon, I just discovered it and it got rid of 85% of my shoulder pain. I'm 62. My shoulder issues: Partial tear of left rotator cuff, left glenoid labrum and left biceps tendon at the shoulder. My symptoms: Significant pain that prevented sleep, range of motion cut in half, if not more. Went to the orthopedist Kaiser Permanente scheduled, they wanted me to do PT before considering surgery. The PT didn't seem to do anything, and I even tried exercises I found on KZfaq from others, no relief. I was watching every KZfaq video I could find when I stumbled upon the technique which worked, and it's simple. 95% of shoulder issues and damage is caused by impingement of the acromion and the shortening of a tendon attached to it, which occurs over time as we age. As primates, we evolved to use our arms to hang and do work in that position, when we don't do enough of it, the gap between the acromion and the humerus narrows and impinges upon the soft tissues of the shoulder structure. By dead hanging, arms as vertical as possible, palms facing forward (this hand position keeps the soft tissue back and away from the joint) the humerus will push against the acromion bend it back out to create space and stretch out the shortened tendon. In my case, less than a week of dead hanging 20 seconds at a time for 10 times a day, range of motion was much better, and the constant pain greatly reduced. Within a month, range of motion was 90% restored and pain only happened when arm was moved in certain ways or if I slept on it in a way that aggravated it. The tears will not heal, that would require surgery, but since the impingement has been resolved, the injuries aren't being aggravated, so they aren't likely to get worse. The book is "Shoulder Pain? The Solution & Prevention" by John M Kirsch M D board certified orthopedic surgeon. I bought a paperback copy on Amazon for less than $15. It's not a polished, professionally put together book, but it does show all of his research, including CAT scans, X-rays and even autopsy pics, he spent 10 years on it. If they won't do surgery, that probably means you have partial tears like me, so Dr. Kirsch's method will probably get you back up to speed and in a matter of days and avoid surgery, weeks of immobilization followed by months of PT. I do my own PT, I lift weights and have added to my workout splits specific exercises that strengthen muscles that offset those that were damaged.

@@yorkiepityes, and studies are finding that surgery of this type is widely varied in its ability to alleviate pain. Dead hanging is key. I have some kind of Supraspinatus problem for decades. Exercise over the last year and a half made my shoulder so much better. Woke up this morning with acute pain from impingement. Hopefully just bursitis. But you are on to something, dead hanging and sensible exercise. I feel this time rehabilitation will be quicker
