The Julianna seem to have something else going on there. The wave shape in on triangle here? Anyhow, there is some type of flanging or something going on, like an extra reverby kind of thing here. The MXR is certainly more direct.

I own it. Great video and I thank you for the in depth walk through on this unit. I bought it to use on my home pedal board so I can have various delays and store them in the memory bank. I Have a drum machine and looper and it’s cool not bending down and adjusting the delay settings. It sounds nice and works for me.

I modded one of those into a tube amp cus the original circuit fried lmao. Apparently the power amp chip fries itself if you play too loud for too long.

I got a bootleg of this amp from Benson, but curiously enough, it uses a different circuit - from the 90s Vox AC1! Found out after reverse engineering the circuit 😁

As someone else said, it's the belt clip. Had the same issue with my Honeytone before. You can fix it by bending it back, or adding a bit of felt to where the clip "pinches" against the back of the amp.

You can mod all of these little amps to turn the headphone out into a speaker out by adding a switch, and wiring the middle and one of the out pins of it to the two legs of the resistor on the board with the jack. They sound pretty good on a cab.

Just bought a set to put in my ltd Viper. It had EMG HZ originally, which I found a bit bland, so I pout BKP Boot Camp, True Grit, which were underwhelming. I have been meaning to go back to EMG 81/60 but never got around to it. These puppies will do the trick nicely.

Good video. When you say "buffer pedal" do you mean a separate device (like a Suhr Buffer and the other like) or mean effect pedal with a built-in buffer (like a boss pedal)?

I’m not hearing noise on the original, headphones or speakers, but I am older, so if the noise is very high frequency, I probably won’t hear it. What kind of noise are you hearing? I’ve owned the old one for years and I’ve never felt that there was any latency issue. Never felt the need for a volume control either. I haven’t heard anything from the new one in your video that makes me want to change pedals. I like the ability to use an expression pedal, so that removes the new one as an option as far as I’m concerned. Regardless, thank you for a very well done exhaustive comparison of these two pedals. They’re both excellent options. 😊
@MadebyMiike

As much as I love these two guys, they are salesmen. They get paid (or get free stuff) to review equipment and will do what it takes to make a pedal sound good. Apples and oranges.

m134 is pseudo stereo, not true. it inverts the processed signal to one side, so if/when the track is played on a mono system, the chorus effect is completely muted & you're left with only the dry signal. m234 is dry/wet, so you get one side processed & the other direct. just throwing this out there for others to see.

satisfaction is cool but its too situational. the tone isnt strong enough and it sounds like a hi pass filter is cutting the lows and mids, like a fuzz going to a telephone eq. you might as well just use an eq and run it after your fuzz and just zero everything to left

these honeytone can have great sound, sometimes you need to dial in the guitar as well, switch from neck to bridge or middle pickup, blend between them with the tone knob, between that and the controls on the amp you can find some good sounds. for what it is, a 20 dollar amp, its amazing if you got nothing else. The next step up, that I would consider anyways, is a spark go amp @ 120$ Which is a big step in quality, but also a big step in price.
